The squad of 33 players that Gareth Southgate has selected will be reduced to 26 before they head to Germany.
With one of the best football teams in the competition, The Three Lions are among the favorites to win the trophy for the first time ever.
The Southgate era’s constants, Manchester United attacker Rashford and former Liverpool captain Henderson, had a significant impact on England’s progress to the 2022 FIFA World Cup quarterfinals in Qatar.
Rashford’s performance at Manchester United has deteriorated since then to the point where Erik ten Hag’s injury-plagued team no longer starts him.
Henderson controversially moved from Liverpool to Al Ettifaq in the previous summer. Despite being a regular in England teams this season, he was not able to keep his position following an uncomfortable six months in the Saudi Pro League. He moved to Ajax in January. Henderson’s most recent five-week injury layoff was emphasized by Southgate as a noteworthy development at the team reveal news conference.
There doesn’t seem to be much Henderson and Rashford can do to improve their chances of securing a starting spot in the center midfield and wide attacking positions due to increased competition and excellent depth.
Mainoo and Palmer called up

In March, Kobbie Mainoo, a young player for Manchester United, made an impression by earning his first two senior caps. Adam Wharton, an uncapped player for Crystal Palace, has received recognition for his outstanding play since joining the Premier League from Blackburn Rovers during the midseason transfer window. Curtis Jones of Liverpool makes his senior debut after earning 20 caps for the England Under-21 team.
Rashford’s absence was more predictable this season because to the rise of Cole Palmer of Chelsea and Anthony Gordon of Newcastle, while Jarrod Bowen had a successful season at West Ham as well.
The fact that both Jarrad Branthwaite and Jarrell Quansah, uncapped center backs from opposing sides of Merseyside, are present suggests that Southgate is not overly well-stocked in the defensive department.
As a result, several well-known players will have been left out of the team and would likely feel cheated by the management for not including them in his plans. Some have just not lived up to the standards.
Here are some of the big players left out:
Reece James

Reece James, one of the most skilled and talented footballers of his age, has suffered from a string of unfortunate injuries.
The right-back made a comeback for Chelsea at the conclusion of the campaign, but he was sent off against Brighton to end it early. He just did not have enough time to persuade Southgate.
Ben Chilwell
Being a full-back for Chelsea means always worrying about injuries. One of England’s finest choices for the left side of the back four is Ben Chilwell, although this season he only made nine starts in the Premier League.
Harvey Elliott
Harvey Elliott is perhaps experiencing this competition a bit too soon. The young player from Liverpool has had a rather breakthrough season, tallying three goals and six assists in the Premier League. It’s likely that his lack of top-flight starts has kept him from progressing to the international level.
Ben White

It is unusual to see one of the season’s greatest defenders, Ben White, not playing in Euro 2024, even if we all knew he wouldn’t be.
The player for Arsenal apparently took an early flight home from the 2022 World Cup due to a falling out with his assistant, Steve Holland. He hasn’t appeared for an England team since.
Nick Pope
Although Nick Pope is Southgate’s best goalkeeper option, a dislocated shoulder in December kept him out of action for more than five months.
He made a comeback for Newcastle United’s season-ending match, but the manager couldn’t afford to start a player who had just recovered from a major injury because there is just too much competition in the nets.
