Dallas Mavericks Vs Oklahoma City Thunder Last Game

After a difficult performance in Game 4 of their series, the Dallas Mavericks star appeared more like himself on Wednesday night.

It’s been a bit of an unusual sight lately, but he wasn’t fighting with officials at all, and he didn’t appear to be experiencing any pain in his knee.

In the Dallas Mavericks vs Oklahoma City Thunder last game of their Western Conference semifinal series at the Paycom Center, Dončić led the Mavericks to a decisive 104-92 victory over the Thunder.

The Mavericks opened the second quarter by blowing open the score after a close first quarter. They dominated the Thunder offense, which went over four minutes without a field goal, and started the quarter on a massive 16–5 run.

During that stretch, Dončić had it with Dereck Lively in an unimaginable full-court pass. The Mavericks led by 10 points going into the locker room at the half, and later led by 15 points at one point in the game.

Even after two free throws in the first 36 minutes of the game, the Mavs still led by 10 points going into the fourth quarter.

The Mavericks had the ideal response each time the Thunder attempted to narrow the gap. A classic example was in the last minute of the game when Shai Gilgeous-Alexander made an absurd and-1.

Dončić and co ended the game rather quickly in the fourth quarter. They went on a 10–4 run to start the half and, after only three minutes, forced a Thunder timeout.

The Dallas Mavericks star scored eight of those points, including a long 3-pointer that unexpectedly increased their lead to 19.

Although the Thunder quickly responded with a 10-0 run of their own halfway in the quarter, it was too little, too late to stop the Mavericks from winning.

Derrick Jones Jr. blocked a key 3-point attempt by Chet Holmgren and scored a massive slam in the last two minutes to help the Mavericks hold on and win by a 12-point margin.

How Did Luka Doncic Play?

He secured an impressive 30-point triple-double and he didn’t worry at all about calls. The Dallas Mavericks star was calm but razor-focused in this game.

Speaking after the game, he said that he gets carried away by the beauty of the game and he gives it his all. He has trained his mind to focus on what matters and that is basketball.

Doncic, who finished first in the league in scoring during the regular season, had some difficulties in the series with Oklahoma City.

Through the first four games, he had averaged just 22 points on 39% shooting while dealing with an injury in his right knee and a sore left ankle.

In Game 5, he finished with 11 assists, 10 rebounds, and 12 of his 22 field goals marking his sixth career playoff triple-double.

With their Game 5 win over the Thunder, Dallas now leads the series 3-2. However, Dallas Mavericks squandered a fantastic chance to put the conference’s top seed on the verge of elimination in Monday night’s Game 4 of the series.

The Mavericks are now one victory away from abruptly ending Oklahoma City Thunder’s best season yet in almost a decade.

Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd praised Doncic for the great play.

He told ESPN: “He [Doncic] was aggressive. He was making shots, taking shots. The deep 3, being able to get to the basket, playmaking for his bigs and also for the wings.”
