Cody Rhodes has taken the wrestling world by a storm in recent years. The American Nightmare is one of the most loved wrestlers at Vince McMahon‘s promotion WWE but also the Undisputed WWE Champion, with both the WWE Universal Championship and the WWE Championship in his possession.

Even though most fans know Rhodes for his time at WWE, he also enjoyed a successful stint at All Elite Wrestling (AEW), where he held the AEW TNT Championship three times. The 38-year-old has also worked with various promotions over the course of his career such as New Japan Pro-Wrestling, National Wrestling Alliance and Global Force Wrestling.

With that said, let’s take a look at interesting facts about Cody Rhodes you probably didn’t know.

1. He Is A Married Man

Whereas a good number of celebrities prefer to keep their personal life away from the media, Rhodes has made his family the front and center of his career. The WWE Champion is married to Brandi Rhodes and the couple has been together for more than a decade now. Brandi previously worked as a ring announcer and is best known for her tenure at WWE. She also wrestled professionally before deciding to retire.

Brandi and Rhodes are blessed with one child who is known as Liberty. The family stays with their Siberian Husky named Pharaoh which Rhodes has appeared alongside on several occasions at AEW and WWE.

2. Rhodes Comes From A Wrestling Family

Well, Rhodes has not only married a former professional wrestler but also comes from a family with roots in wrestling. He is the son of Virgil Riley Runnels Jr., better known as The American Dream Dusty Rhodes. Dusty was one of the best wrestlers during his days and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007.

Cody Rhodes’ half-brother Dustin Rhodes is best known to the wrestling world is Goldust. He has worked with various promotions over the course of his career, including WWE, World Championship Wrestling Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) and AEW, where he is currently signed.

Cody Rhodes is also the nephew of pro wrestlers Fred Ottman and Jerry Sags.

3. He Has Cuban Descent

If you’re an AEW fan then you must have wondered why Rhodes was featured on the promotion’s promotional material when it came to Hispanic Heritage Month. Well, the answer is because he is part-Cuban. Rhodes’ is of Cuban descent through his maternal grandfather.

4. His Sister Was A Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader

At this point, we can all agree that the Cody Rhodes family has a lot of success on their blood. Whereas most men have achieved success in the ring, one of Rhodes’ sisters, Kristin Ditto, was a member of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. They are the most notable cheerleading group in the United States and joining the team is never a walk in the part.

Ditto is the half-sister of Rhodes as she is the daughter of Dusty Rhodes and his first wife Sandra Runnels. She is sister to Goldust.

5. Cody Rhodes Is An Actor Outside WWE

While to excel in WWE needs one to be a good actor, Rhodes has taken his prowess beyond the ring. Prior to joining Vince McMahon’s promotion, he trained as an actor at the Howard Fine Acting Studio and played a role in the Warehouse 13 series. He has since featured in several television shows, including Surprise Surprise, Food Network Challenge and Arrow.

6. He Helped Found All Elite Wrestling

All Elite Wrestling is arguably the most major promotion to rival WWE since WCW fell in 2001. Well, Rhodes is one of the people who have played a significant role in the success of AEW.

While he was working there, he helped build the promotion from scratch while also making appearances in the ring and being a big character. He was the very first TNT Champion and even though he later left for WWE, the promotion is doing perfectly fine with his brother Goldust being one of the top stars there.
