Manchester United recently won the FA Cup after beating Manchester City in the final played at Wembley Stadium on Saturday. Surprisingly, it was their first major title since 2016 when they won the UEFA Europa League.

The Red Devils have never won the Premier League since 2013 but still boast being the most successful club in England when it comes to league titles, having won 13. United have struggled to replace the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson who retired in 2013 after leading the club to success for several years. They won their last Premier League trophy over a decade ago.

However, it should be noted that Manchester United have won 20 English top-flight titles, which means the others were claimed before the Premier League era.

2. Manchester City – 8

Second is where Manchester City rank among clubs with the most Premier League titles. The Cytizens have achieved their success in recent years and the most dominant force in England at the moment. City won their first Premier League title in 2011/12, thanks to Sergio Aguero’s 94th minute strike against Queens Park Rangers. The trophy was initially going Manchester United’s way before the Argentine scored one of the most famous goals in the football world.

Since the start of the 2023/24 season, they have claimed seven Premier League trophies, which means their total is eight. But when talking about league titles in general, Manchester City have won ten, with the other two clinched during the 1936/37 and 1967/68 seasons.

3. Chelsea – 5

Just like, City, Chelsea are another English club that has been successful in recent years. In fact, their success has surpassed most of the top clubs in Europe.

Talking of clubs with the most Premier League titles, Chelsea rank third having won five since the Premier League era started. The Blues were struggling financially in the early 2000s and weren’t performing until the Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich stepped in 2003.

Chelsea immediately became competitive and won their first-ever league title one year later. They continued to perform well and have since claimed five titles, with the last one being in 2017.

They were champions for the first time in 1997/98 and then 2001/02 before the historic 2003/04 campaign when they won the league unbeaten.

Unfortunately, Arsenal are yet to win a league title since 2004 when Arsene Wenger was the manager. The London club struggled to even finish in the top four before Mikel Arteta turned things around during the 2022/23 season. They have been serious title contenders, losing the Premier League race by a small margin.

Arsenal were close to winning the 2023/24 Premier League title race and led the standings for several weeks before being overtaken by Manchester City in the final week of the season.
