Charles Leclerc 2024 Monaco results – a winner of the Grand Prix – is big history in the world of Formula 1.

The Ferrari driver broke a nearly century-old curse on his backyard by winning the race. No other Monegasque F1 driver has won the Monaco Grand Prix since 1931. Leclerc is the first driver to do so.

Leclerc triumphed spectacularly in Monaco, sharing the podium with fellow Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz and McLaren’s Oscar Piastri. This year’s F1 race in Monaco was heated with lots of collisions in the first lap.

Only 16 cars saw the red flag but the Ferrari driver stole the show with a P1 finish.

After years of injury at his home event, Leclerc finally scored his first victory of the F1 2024 season at the Monaco Grand Prix.

With Piastri second for McLaren and Sainz third, he finally broke the infamous “Monaco curse” by dominating from pole position. It was a redemption race for him and he is grateful that he won but it wasn’t that easy.

Some drama ensued moments before the start of the race. A red flag was required due to a multi-car collision on the first lap that included both Haas cars and Sergio Perez of Red Bull.

Leclerc took advantage of this early mayhem to preserve the lead from pole position. The Monegasque showed off his skill on the narrow, cruel course as soon as the race resumed.

How Did Charles Leclerc Win 2024 Monaco?

Charles Leclerc 2024 Monaco results aren’t a surprise but it’s such a big deal. First, for breaking a record last made in 1931 and secondly, for winning his first race in 2024.

Ferrari’s decision to begin with medium tyres was a wise move. While several competitors chose the softer compound and thus required an early stop, Leclerc maintained a comfortable lead throughout his stint.

Out of this advantage, he was able to pit later for new tyres and resume the race comfortably ahead of the pack.

The struggle that was building behind him was in sharp contrast to his calm pace throughout the race. McLaren’s Piastri appeared as a surprising competitor in a car that was on the rise.

He successfully repelled Sainz’s late surge to take an outstanding second place. Leclerc experienced intense emotional joy upon winning.

The pressure was tremendous because they had been agonizingly near to winning Monaco in the past.  Emotions rose as he crossed the finish line.

He boosted Ferrari’s presence in F1 as a formidable competitor against Red Bull and McLaren which equally have powerful cars.

What Did Leclerc Say after Winning in Monaco?

Winning the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix was emotive for him in a good way because he fulfilled a dream he and his late father held.

Leclerc’s father, Hervé Leclerc, passed on in 2017 after battling a long illness. He always wished that his son would win the home race and he finally did seven years later.

The 26-year-old Ferrari driver explained to ESPN that racing in Monaco brings a lot of emotional moments for him. However, he let these emotions inspire him this time and it ended well.

“This is not only my dream, but it was both of our dreams to get here. Obviously, my whole family was supporting and obviously dreaming of that moment, which makes it even more special. That was probably the moment that makes it the most difficult to manage today,” he said.

He added that he never ascribed to the infamous ‘Monaco curse’ because he has, on two occasions, come close to winning the Grand Prix on home soil.

The Ferrari driver attributed his last fail in Monaco to poor strategy and he did all he could to right the wrongs he made on this track in the past.

His most difficult moments in Sunday’s race were the last 10 laps which he felt overwhelmed by thoughts but he still managed.
