Former Welsh professional footballer Ian Rush still leads in Liverpool’s history of being the club’s all-time top scorer. He scored 346 goals in 660 appearances across two spells at the club, to top the list of all-time top goal scorers.

He played as a forward for the club and won several trophies during his tenure. He left Liverpool due to age and giving space to youngsters. He announced his departure from the club on a free transfer when his contract expired in June 1996.

Ian’s final game for Liverpool was when he came in as a substitute, appearing against Manchester United in the 1-0 defeat, in the FA Cup final. His goal was his first to be scored on the losing side in any competition and ended Liverpool’s 144-match unbeaten streak in the matches he had scored in.

Mohammed Salah has taken over the goal-scoring from Ian. He also played a vital role for the Welsh national team and although the team never qualified for a major tournament during his playing career, he remains a national hero for his dedication and goal-scoring exploits.

He retired in 1996 and became a manager with Chester City and a brief stint at Liverpool. He also worked as a pundit, sharing his knowledge and expertise with the next generation.

He became the top scorer for several seasons, racking up goals and trophies at an alarming rate, helping them win five league titles, two FA Cups, five league Cups, a Champions League and a UEFA Cup Winners Cup.

His talent was recognized with numerous individual accolades and he won the PFA Young Player of the Year award in 1983, followed by the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year awards the following year, and also claimed the European Golden Boot the same year.

He sought a new challenge at Juventus and it was favourable, making a return to Liverpool. His return reignited his goal-scoring prowess as he continued adding trophies including a further league title and two more FA Cup victories. Internationally, he played for Wales and inspired a generation of footballers.

Since he retired in 2000, he has been involved in several things. He is a familiar face on British television, as he offers analysis and commentary as a football pundit for some channels including Sky Sports News and Sky Sports.

Rush has also been involved in ambassadorial roles such as with the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour. Even if he is not actively involved in football management, he stays connected to the sport he loves through pundits and other football-related activities.

The legend was born on October 20 1961 in Flint, Wales, to Francis and Doris Rush and he was the ninth among twelve children. His father worked in the steel industry for many years, and his mother passed away in 2010 at the age of 82.

He was married to his wife Tracy Evans for 25 years from 1987-2015 and the couple have two sons together, Jonathan and Daniel. There were rumors that he was engaged to Irish singer and model Carol Anthony but there have been no updates about their recent relationship.

His legendary status in the football world revolves around Liverpool FC and Wales. During his playing years with Liverpool, he was their All-time top scorer with 346 goals in all competitions, and this record stands as a testament to his consistency.

He also happens to hold the record for most goals scored in the EFL Cup and FA Cup finals, and there is an exceptional season that earned him the prestigious European Golden Boot, placing him among Europe’s elite strikers.

Overall, he played a role in Liverpool’s golden era, helping them secure a collection of trophies.
