The latest UFC pound for pound rankings has placed the competitors who best mix power, speed and athleticism in the top ten. The list has some of the most popular names in the ring but since others like Israel Adesanya have lost their spots at the top, the list has been a topic of discussion in the MMA community.

In this article we take a look at the top ten best fighters in the world according to the latest UFC pound for pound rankings.

10. Alexandre Pantoja

Brazilian MMA star Alaxandre Pantoja occupies tenth position as per latest UFC pound for pound rankings. Pantoja competes in the Flyweight division where he is the current champion. He has recorded 27 wins and suffered defeats just five times since becoming a pro. His last fight was on 16 December 2023 when he defended the UFC Flyweight Championship.

9. Dricus du Plessis

Dricus du Plessis currently gets the attention he deserves in the world of MMA. His knockout win over Sean Strickland on 20 January 2024 did not only see him win the UFC Middleweight Championship and Fight of the Night but also get a much deserved spot on the top ten list of UFC pound for pound rankings.

8. Max Holloway

Since losing to Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 276, Max Holloway bounced back like a true warrior, winning his next three fights. The last time he was in action was at the start of this year when he beat Justin Gaethje in a Lightweight bout to win the UFC “BMF” title.

7. Alexander Volkanovski 

Alexander Volkanovski is one of the finest fighters to emerge from Oceania. The 35-year-old competes in the Featherweight division where he is a former UFC Featherweight champion. He has suffered defeats in his last two fights but still ranks higher than many famous fighters according to the latest UFC pound for pound rankings. Volkanovski made his debut in professional boxing before joining the UFC.

6. Sean O’Malley 

Sean O’Malley is arguably the best fighter in the Bantamweight division of the UFC. He is the current champion in the division and boasts a pro MMA record of 18 wins and just one loss.

O’Malley last suffered defeat on 16 August 2020 and has since gone unbeaten seven times. He won the Bantamweight Championship in August 2023 and defended it last month against Marlon Vera.

5. Ilia Topuria

Ilia Topuria is a Georgian and Spanish MMA fighter currently competing in the Featherweight division of the UFC. The 27-year-old has fought 15 different fighters but is yet to lose. He is the current UFC Featherweight Champion, having won the title in February after beating Alexander Volkanovski.

Alex Pereira is a very prominent name in MMA. At the age of 36, the Brazilian is still going strong and it’s not surprising to see him among the top ten fighters in the latest UFC pound for pound rankings despite joining the promotion barely three years ago. Pereira competes in the Light Heavyweight division and is the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. He previously held the UFC Middleweight Championship.

3. Leon Edwards 

British fighter Leon Edwards has so far amassed 14 wins in his UFC career and lost just twice. He competes as a Welterweight and has been holding the UFC Welterweight Championship since beating Kamaru Usman via knockout two years ago.

2. Jon Jones 

Jon Jones is the current UFC Heavyweight Champion. A professional fighter since 2008, Jones has stunned the world with his performance in the ring over the years. As a result, it’s not surprising to see him rank among the top ten in the latest UFC pound for pound rankings. The American won the Heavyweight Championship last year after defeating Ciryl Gane.

1. Islam Makhachev

Russian fighter Islam Makhachev takes the crown as the best UFC fighter in 2024. Makhachev competes in the UFC Lightweight division and has a champion since 2022. Over the course of his career Islam has only lost once and boasts being a combat sambo world champion.
