  • Both Usyk and Fury meet undefeated

Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk clash on May 18 is one of the biggest boxing fights that will be held in 2024.

This phenomenal match will be held in Saudi Arabia. But even as Fury and Usyk look forward to lifting the heavyweight title, so much is at stake.

As a reigning WBC champion Fury will faceoff with unified belt holder Usyk in a high-stakes match that will crown the first undisputed heavyweight boxing champion since 2000.

However, Fury who is going hard on training harbours a level of fear given his peak physical form currently.

“I’m actually scared of where I am at the moment, and that’s a fact,” he told the press on Wednesday after a training session.

Fury said that he is so ready for the fight that he could get into it this weekend if allowed.

“I won’t lie to you, I’m actually terrified of where I am at the moment, because I’m ready to go this weekend – and I’ve got five more weekends to go. So, like Sugar [Fury’s coach] said, the thing is not doing tons of training, but it’s to do less, because I’m already ready. And if I peak too soon, then I’ll come down with an illness, a flu chest, infection, whatever – and then it’s all f***ed,” he added.

Fury, 35, will take on the 37-year-old Usyk in Riyadh with no prior defeats. Usyk is also undefeated and it will be battle of titans as two boxing champions fight for the title.

This unification fight was set for December 2023 but it was postponed to allow Fury to recover from an injury he picked in October 2023 in a fight with Francis Ngannou.

The British boxer squared off against Ngannou, a former UFC heavyweight champion in an eagerly awaited boxing bout that transcended the limits of combat sports.

Although Fury was a clear favourite, the battle wasn’t easy for him. In the third round, Ngannou stopped Fury, shocking the audience. But Fury persevered and outboxed Ngannou in the later rounds with his better boxing abilities.

Fury ultimately prevailed by split decision, earning the victory after a fierce battle that left him with an injury to recover from.

Will Oleksandr Usyk Defeat Tyson Fury?

The Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk is a match to watch. Both boxers meet undefeated seeking to take home a title waiting for them for over two decades.

Usyk, a Ukrainian boxer says that he is ready to serve Fury the same dose that Ngannou served him last year leaving him with a deep cut.

However, Frank Warren who promotes Fury said that despite sustaining such a deep injury, he still clobbered Ngannou to win the match.

“Tyson had a dreadful cut in that fight and won the fight convincingly with a bad cut, a real bad cut,” Warren said in an interview with Sky Sports.

Fury has proven time and time again that he can handle pressure. Most recently, he survived knockdowns against Deontay Wilder and Ngannou to maintain his undefeated record.

Warren warned Usyk that Fury spots weaknesses fast and exploits them to the end unapologetically and mercilessly.

“One thing about Tyson, if he senses a crack or sees any weakness, he’s the biggest exploiter of it and that’s why it’s going to be such an exciting fight. On the other hand, Usyk might feel from the Ngannou fight there are some things that he can exploit and I’m sure he will. He’s a competitor.

“He’s a competitor from amateur days right up until the present day. He’s done everything that’s been asked of him.”

Fury has even joked that he can take down Usyk after taking 15 pints of beer. Fury claimed he could defeat Usyk without any training and after taking 15 pints of Peroni on the eve of the match.
