Sir Alex Ferguson Sells his Cheshire Mansion for $4.1 Million

Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has finally sold his luxury home, five months after he put it on the market, following the demise of his wife who passed away at the age of 84 in October 2019.

In February, he slashed the price of the Cheshire mansion by a quarter, asking for $4.1 million when he struggled to shift the property. He now lives in a $1.5 million house next to League One manager and son Darren.

After 57 years of marriage to Lady Cathy, Ferguson described her as his bedrock and her funeral was attended by several celebrities from the football world and further afield. He got married to Cathy in 1966 when they were teenagers.

The two have three sons together Mark, Darren and Jason all of whom have been involved in football, with Darren following in his father’s footsteps by becoming a football manager.

During his time at Aberdeen, he won the Scottish Premier Division three times, the Scottish Cup four times, the European Cup Winners Cup in 1983 and the European Super Cup in 1984. Two years later, he was appointed the manager of Manchester United where he served for twenty-seven years.

He was appointed the manager of Manchester United in 1986, where his career has been nothing short of phenomenal. He holds the record for most trophies won by a manager at Manchester United, with a staggering 38 trophies.

When he arrived at Man United, the Premier League was not yet formed but he quickly established them as the dominant force, winning the inaugural Premier League title in 1992/93 and adding 12 more titles in the following years.

He also built successful teams by nurturing young talents who became club legends. His personality was demanding but also motivated and inspired his players with his fierce desire for success within the team.

Ferguson played a vital role in making Manchester United a global brand, recognized and supported all over the world. He retired in 2013 and his influence at the club is still felt, the club aspires to maintain the high standards he set.

The house was located in Wilmslow, Cheshire, England and it was a large and luxurious property with features like a gym, games room and a bar. Five months after advertising for its sale, the 82-year-old slashed the price by a quarter and sold it a few days ago at $4.1 million.

He relocated to a $1.5 million house in a nearby village to be closer to his son Darren and grandchildren. His wife died at the age of 84 and despite being away from the public domain, she was a pillar of hope to the manager in all his football endeavors.
