KCB eye crucial three points against Bandari as Posta eye bounce

• KCB has not won in the last five games
• They are looking to break into the top five
• Posta face Bidco while Police play Sofapaka in the other matches

KCB head coach Bernard Mwalala is keen to see his side bounce to winning ways when they take on Bandari FC in the  FKF Premier League in Mombasa.

The bankers have won only once in their last five games and are sitting in 10th place. Victory against Bandari will be key for them as they seek a target of finishing the season in the top five.

Mwalala expects a tough match against his former employers, but says KCB are prepared well to try get a win.

“We know that Bandari is a top team with quality players. They will come at as offensively and they have also proved that they can be solid at the defence. We need to create as many chances as possible to claim all the points,” noted Mwalala.

The KCB team will be without the services of Collins Neto and skipper Brian Ochieng who are out due to injury.

Mwalala says KCB are keen to bag maximum points in Mombasa, and says his confidence is boosted seeing how well the team has improved over the last few games.

“We (KCB) have been improving if you look at how we play. The squad has gained more synergy now and we are playing as a unit. I am confident that we will keep getting good results and if we can do that away to Bandari, it would be great,” added the tactician.

Meanwhile, while KCB seek to get back to winning ways, Posta Rangers stand-in coach Bernard Kawinzi is confident the team is on the right track, and they will get maximum points when they take on Bidco United this weekend.

Kawinzi was asked to take charge of the team until the end of the season after John Kamau was fired following a spate of poor results. Kawinzi is confident that he has what it takes to lead the team to a good finish at the end of the campaign.

“I believe this is a job that any aspiring coach would want to take. I am up to the task and I have been with the team for a while which makes it comfortable for me. I believe I am up to the task,” the tactician said.

He added; “I am happy with the spirit I have seen in the team. In our last match against AFC Leopards we played really well and the players gave a good fight. That shows that we have what it takes to improve. We just need to tighten a few areas and we will be okay.”

The mailmen are seventh in the standings, but are keen to push for a top five finish and a win over Bidco will be crucial to aid their ambition.

Elsewhere, Sofapaka FC head coach Zedekiah Otieno believes his team has now found its rhythm, and will be a tough force to reckon with in the final eight games of the season. Otieno took charge of the team as they were deep in the relegation zone, but has managed to help them move up to 15th, where they are three points off the drop zone.

They haven’t won in their last five games, but have picked four draws and a defeat. Coach Otieno chooses to look at the glass as half full, and says they only need to do a bit of work in scoring to be a good side.

“We are defending very well because now we are conceding less and playing more as a unit. We just need to do a bit more in the finishing bit of the game and we will be okay. If we can score at least two out of the many chances we get in a game, we will be okay,” said the coach.

Sofapaka face off with Police FC over the weekend, with the second placed uniformed forces fighting to bridge the gap between them and leaders Gor Mahia.

It will be a tough duel for Sofapaka, but coach Otieno is confident they can get three points in a tough away hunting ground.
