Real Madrid and FC Barcelona boast some of the most exciting talents in the football world, but who makes it to El Clasico combined XI?
Two of Spain’s biggest clubs go head-to-head tonight in a match that could determine if Real Madrid will win the La Liga title before the end of the season. The Los Blancos, who are through to the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League after beating Manchester City on Wednesday, are currently eight points clear on top of the standings and a win could see them take a huge stride in the La Liga title race.
The match will be played at the Santiago Bernabeu and Barcelona will not only be aiming to return to winning ways after being knocked out of Europe’s elite club competition by PSG but also dent Real’s dream of winning the La Liga before the end of the campaign.
With that said, let’s take a look at players from both Real Madrid and FC Barcelona who make it to El Clasico combined XI.
GK: Marc-Andre ter Stegen (Barcelona)
Unlike other positions, the goalkeeping choice is rather straightforward because of Thibaut Courtois injury. Marc-Andre ter Stegen has played a key role in Barcelona’s campaign even though the Catalans have struggled defensively. No offence to Andriy Lunin who saved two penalties midweek in the Champions League to take Real Madrid to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

RB: Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid)
Dani Carvajal, 32, is one of the best right-backs in the world. He has been the first choice right-back since Carlo Ancelotti returned to the club and his impressive performance is the reason why the Spanish giants are not in a hurry to replace him. He easily takes the right-back position in El Clasico combined XI.
CB: Ronald Araujo (Barcelona)
Ronald Araujo is undoubtedly one of the best centre-backs in the football world right now. His first half red card during Barca’s clash against PSG might have led to the Catalans’ exit from the Champions League but that doesn’t mean his quality at the back has reduced.
CB: Antonio Rudiger
Antonio Rudiger started the 2023-24 season as a third-choice centre-back behind teammates Eder Militao and David Alaba. However, he has stepped up in the absence of the two who have been injured and earned his spot in El Clasico combined XI.

LB: Ferland Mendy
Ferland Mendy might not be as good as his predecessor Marcelo but he has been a good option for Real Madrid. The Frenchman has his shoulders above when compared to Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde.
CM: Pedri
With so many brilliant options in the midfield of Real Madrid and Barcelona combined, its difficult to choose who to include in El Clasico combined XI. However, one name that stands out is Pedri. Combining his relentless energy and playmaking ability, Pedri is easily one of the best midfielders in the world.
CM: Federico Valverde
Federico Valverde has been a key player for Real Madrid for the past few seasons. The Uruguayan is ranked among the best midfielders in the world and you just have to include him in El Clasico combined XI.
CM: Jude Bellingham

Real Madrid spent €103m (£88m/$110m) on acquiring Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund last summer. With the performance we’ve seen from him since his arrival, we can agree that he has lived up to the price tag.
RW: Lamine Yamal
Barcelona’s youngsters from La Masia have taken over the football world by a storm this season. However, one name that earns a spot in El Clasico combined XI is Lamine Yamal. The 16-year-old has been a regular in Barca’s matchday squads and his impressive performance explains him being included in our lineup.
LW: Vinicius Junior

One of the best wingers in the football world, there was no way Vinicius was going to miss in a combined Real Madrid and Barcelona squad. The Brazilian’s pace and sharp feet make him a threat for any defence.
ST: Robert Lewandowski
Things have not been smooth for Robert Lewandowski since he signed with Barcelona in 2022. However, he had delivered for the Catalans several times and still ranks among the best strikers in the world.
