Cole Palmer produced another masterclass in the English Premier League on Monday night, scoring four goals during the Chelsea vs Everton match.
The Blues were in red-hot form and demolished a struggling Everton side 6-0 at Stamford Bridge. Palmer started the thrashing early on and completed his hat-trick inside 29 minutes. He then scored his fourth goal of the match in the second half, becoming the fourth player to score four goals for Chelsea in a league match, after Frank Lampard (twice), Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Gianluca Vialli.

Cole Palmer had now scored 20 league goals, which puts him level with Manchester City talisman Erling Haaland on the list of Premier League top scorers this season. He is the first Chelsea player to score 20 league goals since Diego Costa during the 2016-17 season.
The England international has had a remarkable season at Stamford Bridge since his arrival shortly before the transfer window was closed last summer. With his 20 league goals for the Blues, it’s almost unbelievable that Palmer hadn’t scored a Premier League goal before the start of this season. As of now, the 21-year-old, who moved to Chelsea in search of regular playing time, has scored 25 goals in 43 matches across all competitions.
Well, we can all agree that his move from Premier League defending champions Manchester City to Chelsea has paid off. The Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino is impressed with the fantastic work that Palmer has been doing this season.
“I need to be honest, of course when we signed him he [Cole Palmer] was a great talent. He is doing fantastic, he is doing really well and he has adapted himself. The impact on the team was amazing from day one. I am so happy for him and the team.” Pochettino praised Palmer after the Chelsea vs Everton match, as per Sky Sports.

On Monday, Everton travelled to Stamford Bridge with the aim of beating Chelsea like they did in December at Goodison Park. However, things were not on their side from the start and they trailed after just 13 minutes of play when Palmer found the back of the net after a beautiful one-two with Nicolas Jackson.
Palmer was on the scoreboard again five minutes later as he converted from close range after Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford blocked Jackson’s shot. The star midfielder then completed his hat-trick in the 29th minute after Pickford gifted him with the ball.
Everton also troubled Chelsea’s defence several times in the first period but were unlucky in front of goal. Their hopes of at least starting a comeback were extinguished in the 44th minute when Jackson scored Chelsea’s fourth goal of the night.
Two more goals in the second half from Palmer and academy graduate Alfie Gilchrist ensured Chelsea recorded one of their biggest wins in the Premier League in recent years.

Apart from the 6-0 thrashing of Everton and Palmer’s four goals, there was something else that caught the attention of many during the Chelsea vs Everton match. Once again, Chelsea players argued over who takes the penalty.
Palmer, who is the Blues’ regular penalty taker, was fouled in the box forcing the referee to point to the spot. Surprisingly, Noni Madueke took the ball and refused to hand it over to Palmer as he wanted to take the penalty. Conor Gallagher, who is the captain, grabbed the ball and then handed it to Palmer. But Jackson came and then tried to take the ball off Palmer as he also wanted to take the penalty.
In the end, it was Palmer who converted but the Blues fans weren’t happy with what they saw. This is not the first time that Chelsea players have argued over who takes a penalty this season and Pochettino apologized to the fans afterwards while admitting “it’s a shame”.
