Eric Kapaito scored a pair of headers, one in each half as Tusker FC rose to second in the FKF Premier League standings with a 2-1 victory away to Muhorioni Youth. The win sees the team move to 40 points, one ahead of third placed Posta Rangers.
Kapaito takes his tally for the season to eight and remains firmly in the chase for his third career FKF Premier League golden boot.
“We really played well as a team and fought from the first minute in a difficult match. I am pleased with the two goals and more so because the team won. We have to keep working and focusing on each game as it comes because every duel is a final,” said Kapaito after the win.
Tusker FC assistant coach George Maina, who took charge of the team in the absence of coach Robert Matano was also delighted with the performance.
“We played really well in a difficult away match. We just need to keep grinding for results and being better at what we do,” noted the tactician.
The 20-minute delay to kick off took some ting off the momentum off warm up, both sides had a slow start to the game. Kapaito had an effort at goal after 10 minutes, flicking a header from Daniel Sakari’s long throw but it flew into the keeper’s arms.

On the other end, the hosts had some good chances, Jackson Green seeing his shot brilliantly blocked by skipper Michael Kibwage before Abubakar Eneji headed over unmarked inside the box.
The hosts had been creating trouble with runs behind the defense, but the danger wasn’t as much.
Having sustained that pressure, Tusker got the opening goal in the 36th minute. A training ground routine corner saw John Njuguna start short to Sakari who floated the ball in the box, Kapaito holding off a challenge to nod the ball home.
With a 1-0 lead at the break, the boys had a good hold on the tempo. Coming into the second half, Eric Zakayo was introduced for John Byamukama and it only took five minutes for him to provide the second.
He picked the ball at the backpost, dazzled his marker with some silky footwork before floating the ball into the area, Kapaito doing the business with another nifty header that the keeper could only watch as it shook the net.
The 2-0 lead was adequate for the brewers, who maintained composure and controlled proceedings.

However, the hosts changed tact and dumped balls into the area, as they tried to get a way back into the game. The pressure bore fruit for them 10 minutes to time when Adebowale Samuel pulled one back for them stretching a foot at the backpost to connect to a Reegan Otieno cross from the right.
The goal made for some nervous ending to the game, but the boys held their nerve to clinch the three points.
