American professional basketball player Candace Parker recently re-signed with the Las Vegas Aces after playing for the team in a successful season. Before joining the Aces, she played for Chicago Sky for two seasons.

With two WNBA titles and extensive championship experience, she is expected to be a vocal leader on and off the court. Her veteran presence can be invaluable in guiding younger teammates and maintaining a winning mentality throughout the season.

Her main reason for joining the team is probably to get a new challenge and a different playing environment to further solidify her legacy as one of the greatest WNBA players.

Her reasons for joining the Las Vegas Aces could be based on several factors including career and also personal reasons. If we base it on her career, the Las Vegas Aces were a strong contender for the championship having won in 2022. Joining a team with a strong winning culture and established core players potentially increased her chances of adding another championship title.

Aces’ playing style likely attracted her skillset and with her ability to play in multiple positions contributing offensively and defensively, she could seamlessly integrate with the team’s existing system.

If we base it on personal factors, her family lives on the West Coast and joining Las Vegas Aces brought her closer to them as compared to playing for the Chicago Sky, a factor that prioritized her family life in her career.

Beyond adding another Championship, she might have desired a new challenge and a different playing environment to further enhance her legacy as one of the greatest WNBA players.

Candage Parker’s career journey

Parker began her career journey at a young age and displayed exceptional talent at an early age. She attended Naperville Central High School where she became a McDonald’s All-American and led her team to several state Championships. She then joined the University of Tennessee and during her college career, she achieved remarkable success, winning two consecutive NCAA championships and earning two Final Four Most Outstanding Player awards.

She also received numerous accolades including being named the National Freshman of the Year and three-time All-American before being drafted by the Los Angeles Sparks in the 2008 WNBA draft.

She immediately made an impact, breaking the WNBA rookie record performance in her debut game and won two awards in the same season. Parker played for the Sparks for thirteen seasons where she established herself as one of the league’s best players, leading them to their first WNBA championship.

In 2017, she took a break in preparation for her baby’s arrival and in return, she led the Sparks to the playoffs several times. Four seasons after playing for the team, she set to embark on a new challenge with the Chicago Sky.

Her contributions to the Sky led them to their first WNBA championship and she recently signed with the Las Vegas Aces. In her career, she has had numerous achievements including:

  • Three times WNBA Championships with Los Angeles Sparks, Chicago Sky and Las Vegas
  • She is a one-time WNBA Finals MVP
  • She is a two-time WNBA Most Valuable Player
  • She is the first player to win both the Rookie of the Year and MVP awards in the same season
  • She is a six times WNBA All-star
  • She is a five times All-WNBA selection
  • She won a gold Olympic medal twice
  • She is a two-time FIBA Europe Player of the Year

How rich is Candace Parker?

Parker’s wealth can be estimated to be around $5 million in assets. She has had a long WNBA career since she was drafted in the WNBA in 2008, having played for some of the best teams like the Chicago Sky, the Los Angeles Sparks and the Las Vegas Aces.

She has earned a significant amount of salary for the years she has played, bonuses and as long as she continues playing, it will continue increasing.
