Newcastle United came from behind to beat West Ham 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller on Saturday afternoon during the Newcastle vs West Ham clash. The Magpies overcame the loss of three players to injury while trailing 3-1 to produce one of the greatest comebacks in Premier League history.
The hosts had opened the scoring inside six minutes through Alexander Isak who scored from the penalty spot before they found themselves behind after Michail Antonio, Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen all found the back of the net.

Newcastle’s astonishing comeback was started by Isak, who converted from the spot again and then completed by Harvey Barnes who scored two goals in stoppage time.
Following their impressive win, Eddie Howe’s side have moved to eighth on the standings, just one point behind West Ham.
How The Newcastle Vs West Ham Game Unfolded
The first Premier League game after the international break started with a bang. Newcastle were +1-0 up barely six minutes into the match after Alexander Isak converted the penalty which had been won by Antony Gordon. Isak had to await for VAR to confirm that Gordon was not offside before he was fouled in the box by Coufal.
Despite Newcastle starting the game well, the momentum slowly started to shift towards West Ham side and the hosts suffered a first blow in the match when Jamaal Lascelles hobbled off the pitch with a knee problem in the 17th minute.
Four minutes later, West Ham were level, thanks to Michail Antonio who made no mistake in front of goal after being found by Lucas Paqueta. Gordon had a golden opportunity to restore Newcastle’s lead but his header went wide.
Bruno Guimaraes then went close in first half stoppage time but his shot just hit the bar. Shortly afterwards, the Magpies were made to pay for their missed chances when Mohammed Kudus scored from close range to give the visitors the lead.
They came back after the restart desperate to find and equalizer but found themselves two goals down when Bowen raced from halfway and then beat Martin Dubravka. Things got from bad to worse for Newcastle afterwards when Tino Livramento limped off with an ankle issue and then he was followed by substitute Almiron who was forced off the pitch due to a knee problem.
Nevertheless, they continued pushing and created a few chances which Isak and Sean Longstaff failed to convert. They were handed a lifeline in the 77th minute when a VAR check saw Phillips had fouled Gordon in the box. Once again, Isak made no mistake as he converted from 12 yards.

With the momentum on their side, Eddie Howe’s men showed brilliant attacking display and eventually found the equalizer in stoppage time through Barnes. While everyone thought the points were going to be shared, Barnes found the back of the net again deep in stoppage time to win it for Newcastle. St. James’ Park erupted as the Magpies produced one of the best performances we have seen this season in the English Premier League.
Barnes, who joined Newcastle from Leicester City last summer, has had a difficult start to life at Newcastle due to injuries but today’s performance is one he will remember for a very long time. The England international was playing in his 12th match since the start of the season and has so far scored four goals.
