Who are the favourites to win Euro 2024? Talks about the European Championship are back after the international break concluded this week. Several players made headlines during the break, including Portugal’s Bruno Fernandes and England’s duo Jude Bellingham and Kobbie Mainoo.

The Euro 2024 lineup is now complete and we have all the groups. Considering form and strength of the various squads, here are the favourites to win Euro 2024, as per Flashscore:

1.  France

Despite losing to Germany and narrowly beating South American side Chile during the international break, France are still favourites to win Euro 2024. Don’t let their current near-dreadful form fool you because they were in a bad state in 2022 but surprisingly made it to the finals of the World Cup in Qatar.

France have a world-class player in almost every position on the pitch and are led by a manager who has proven to be one of the best, Didier Deschamps. As long as the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann and Aurelien Tchouameni will be available, we expect Les Blues to go all the way to the finals of the Euros tournament and win it.

2. Portugal

Portugal are also favourites to win Euro 2024 despite suffering a shock lose against Slovenia during the international break. The Selecao will be aiming to win another Euros tournament this year to add to their 2016 victory. To be honest, the main reason why they are seen among the favourites is because of their impressive run since Roberto Martinez took over from Fernando Santos.

Portugal have only lost one match in 12 games and have scored 41 goals while conceding just six. Even though they haven’t faced a top side since the start of last year, they have a strong squad which could produce moments of magic in Germany.

3. England

England failed to win any match during the international break, but are still favourites to triumph in Germany, according to many bookmakers. Well, the main reason why they are seen as favourites is because of plenty of talent that Gareth Southgate has to choose from.

From Harry Kane to Jude Bellingham to Bukayo Saka to Phil Foden, their attack is good enough to destroy any defence in the world. Their midfield also has quality players, including Kobbie Mainoo who has had his breakthrough this season at Manchester United. England could at least reach the semi-final of the Euros tournament.

4. Germany

The hosts Germany are among favourites to win Euro 2024 even though they haven’t been at their best for many years. The arrival of former Bayer Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann has breathed life into the team, which won their two matches during the international break against France and Germany.

The emergence of young talents such as Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz with the return of Toni Kroos could see the Die Mannschaft do wonders come summer when they’ll be hosting the Euros. Even though they’ll be a force to be reckoned with, winning the tournament will depend on a lot of factors.

5. The Netherlands

The Netherlands sent a strong message to Euros rivals after thumping Scotland 4-0 in the first match they played during the international break. However, they failed to maintain the momentum and lost 2-1 to Germany in the second match.

The Netherlands doesn’t have a strong attack like France and England but their defence is one that many nations wish to have. The presence of Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool), Nathan Ake (Manchester City), Stefan de Vrij (Inter Milan), Matthijs de Ligt (Bayern Munich), Micky van de Ven (Tottenham Hotspur) and Jurrien Timber (Arsenal) at the backline of the Netherlands means that they won’t concede more as these are some of the best defenders in the football world right now.

Manchester United legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson once said ‘attack wins you games, defence wins you titles’, which is why the Netherlands are among favourites to win Euro 2024.
