England Trio [Maguire, Walker and Johnstone] Ruled Out of Belgium Clash through Injury

It is a sad moment for the England national team as their three players have sustained injuries that will see them side-lines for some time. The players are Harry Maguire, Kyle Walker and Sam Johnstone who plays as a goalkeeper.

During the incident some time, the three were playing in a match against Brazil that ended in a loss. Walker and Maguire started the match but have now left the England camp through injury, as has back-up goalkeeper Johnstone ahead of the Belgium clash.

The three have left for their respective clubs for assessment having sustained injuries in the recent days.solidifyinsolidifying The withdrawal of the three players follows the departure of Bukayo Saka and skippet Harry Kane earlier in the meet-up.

The England national team manager Gareth Southgate has recently been dealing with a variety of injury and fitness issues and said that there is a whole range and raft of reasons for the number of injuries.

Kyle Walker

Walker is a professional English footballer who plays as a defender for Premier League club Manchester City, who is known for his attacking prowess. He currently holds the right-back position for Man City and the England national team.

His football journey began with Sheffield United when he was seven years and his talent led him to the club’s youth academy. After a successful loan stint at Northampton Town, he made his senior debut for Sheffield United, earning him a place in the 2009 Championship play-off final.

He then signed with Tottenham Hotspur, but was immediately loaned back to Sheffield United to gain experience, where he stayed for one season before returning to Hotspur and solidified his place in the first team.

Harry Maguire

Harry Maguire is an English professional footballer who plays as a central defender for Manchester United and the England national team. He has a sporting background that could have influenced him.

His career began at Sheffield United’s youth academy and he progressed through the ranks to their first team. After three seasons playing for them, he joined Hull City in the Championship though the club was relegated that season.

He then signed with Leicester City in the Premier League, and played a role in the club’s Europa League victory and became a regular starter for England, featuring in the 2018 World Cup and Nations League campaigns.

Sam Johnstone

Sam Johnstone is a 31-year-old English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Crystal Palace i n the Premier League and the England national team. He started his training with Manchester United’s academy, played for West Bromwich Albion for four seasons before joining Crystal Palace.

He earned a call-up for the England national team and has represented England at various youth levels, the U-16, U-17, U-19, U-20. Johnstone won the 2010 UEFA European Under-17 Championship with England.

He debuted for the senior team in 2021 and has earned three caps so far. Though he represented England at various youth levels, his senior call-up came at the age of 28 years.

Johnstone was not included in England’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. However, he was recalled for the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia  in June 2023.

The three England national team players were recently withdrawn from the England squad due to injuries ahead of their friendly match against Belgium on March 26, 2024. The specific nature of injuries is not known.

Maguire and Walker started the match against Brazil on March 23 but were forced to come off during the game. The three players were sent back to their respective clubs. Maguire-Manchester United, Walker-Manchester City and Johnstone at Crystal Palace for further evaluation to determine the severity of the injuries and recovery timelines.
