Bayern Munich have had a difficult season and things went from bad to worse on Saturday during the Bayern vs Dortmund clash as they were beaten 2-0 at home.
Karim Adeyemi and Julian Ryerson scored in either half as Dortmund recorded their first win over rivals Bayern Munich since 2019. It was also their first victory at the Allianz Arena in ten years and tightened their bid for a top four finish this campaign. They are fourth on the standings with 53 points.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are currently 13 points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen who have been unstoppable this season. Xabi Alonso’s side had earlier secured a 2-1 comeback victory over Hoffenheim.
Speaking after the 2-0 defeat against Dortmund, which dented their hopes of catching up with Leverkusen, Bayern Munich manager surrendered the title to Xabi Alonso and Bayer Leverkusen.
“Yes, of course. This is clear. Naturally, I have no hope anymore. No no no. After today’s game, I do not need to tell you anything more. How many points behind are we? 13.” Thomas Tuchel said after the Bayern vs Dortmund game when asked if his side were out of the title race, as per Goal.com.
The former Chelsea boss then closed his remarks on the topic by congratulating Leverkusen. The Black and Reds need just three in the remaining seven Bundesliga matches to be crowned champions. If they win the title, which they’re likely going to, they’ll stop Bayern’s dominance in the German league as the Bavarians have won the last eleven consecutive Bundesliga titles.
As Bayern will be going back to the drawing board to reflect on Saturday’s performance, they’ll start preparations for a red-hot Arsenal side who they face in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League in April. Next up for Tuchel’s side is Heidenheim on April 6.
How Bayern Vs Dortmund Unfolded
Bayern Munich have been dominant against Borussia Dortmund in the Der Klassiker derby for some time now. Hosting their longtime rivals at Allianz Arena, Bayern fans had hopes that they were going to walk away with victory and put pressure on Bayer Leverkusen.
However, Dortmund had other ideas and started to show them out early in the match. The die Schwarzgelben went ahead after just ten minutes of play when Julian Brandt used a rapid touch-move to his advantage and then found Karim Adeyemi, who cut in and then opened the scoring. The winger’s pace was just too much for Bayern defenders to stop him before beating Sven Ulreich.
The hosts almost responded a short while later but Harry Kane headed wide after being put in a promising position by Joshua Kimmich. Tuchel’s side then seized control of the match and really gave Dortmund defenders a hard time. However, they lacked that accuracy in front of goal and the visitors were leading at the break.

Bayern picked from where they had left in the first period by continuing to attack. Despite piling pressure on the visitors they still couldn’t find the back of the net and were made to pay for their missed opportunities in the 83rd minute when Julian Ryerson doubled Dortmund’s advantage. The goal was assisted by AFCON winner Sebastian Haller who came from the bench to help the visitors attack.
Harry Kane, who scored a hat-trick the last time these two sides met, had a quiet evening which ended by his goal in the 90th minute being ruled out for offside by the VAR. Nevertheless, he is still the top scorer in the Bundesliga this season with 31 goals.
