Lewis Hamilton to Leave Mercedes for Ferrari in 2025

They say that behind every rumour, there is some truth and this is the case with Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton and his new Formula 1 adventure in Italy. Confirmed reports indicate that the seven-time F1 champion will sign with Ferrari in 2025.

The 2024 F1 season marks his last with the Silver Arrows. His exit comes after a tussle in his contract extension with Mercedes which gave the Italian team some bargaining opportunity.

Then led by team principal Mattia Binotto who was replaced by Frederic Vasseur, Ferrari offered Hamilton a $49 million deal. He turned it down and said that his focus was winning an eight championship title with Mercedes Petronas.

However, Vasseur recently revealed that he has been in talks with the Brit every week. Hamilton hasn’t spoken yet about the reasons that informed his decision to leave Mercedes where he won seven championship titles.

American Team Andretti Won’t Join Formula One By 2026

Andretti Global’s proposal to enter the global racing series in 2025 or 2026 will not happen after Formula One turned down its application. The American team will have to try once again in 2028.

The team’s admission was initially accepted by the FIA, but Andretti’s proposal to enter as early as 2025 or 2026 remains insufficient according to F1. Formula 1 said that it is not convinced that Andretti will be competitive like or above other racing teams.

“We do not believe that there is a basis for any new applicant to be admitted in 2025 given that this would involve a novice entrant building two completely different cars in its first two years of existence,” stated F1.

There Will Be a Madrid Grand Prix in 2024

The Madrid Grand Prix is surely a big stake in new developments in Formula One 2024 season. The Spanish city of Madrid will host a F1 Grand Prix as part of a ten-year agreement estimated to be worth £400 million.

F1 executives confirmed the authenticity of this new development after several years of negotiations with Madrid. Hosting costs of over £40 million will be paid to the sport’s owners, Formula One Management (FOM), making it one of the two most expensive contracts ever negotiated for a race in Europe.

Wolff stays with Mercedes until 2026 in new three-year deal he signed recently. His contract extension came after meeting fellow shareholders Mercedes Benz and Ineos. Wolff, an Austrian auto racer has a one-third stake in the team.

It is under him that Mercedes won eight constructor’s championship title in a row between 2014 and 2021. The 52-year-old said that as a shareholder, he wants the team to win because it will give good return on investment.
