  • He terms it the greatest honour that Toto Wolff deserves
  • He will move to Ferrari in 2025

Following his announcement that he is headed to Ferrari in 2025, Lewis Hamilton wish for Mercedes this season remains victory.

The British driver says nothing will make him happier than leaving the team where he raced for 11 years on top of Formula One standings.

He terms it the greatest honour that Toto Wolff deserves after a decade with the team. It is with Mercedes that Hamilton won seven F1 world championship titles between 2014 and 2020.

Reasons for not winning an eighth title in 2021 remain a deeply controversial subject stemming from the final race of the season, Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The win was handed to Red Bull driver Max Verstappen who has won F1 constructors championship three years in a row.

With his imminent departures to Ferrari next season, Lewis Hamilton wish for Mercedes for the 2024 season is big. The seven-time World Champion was present at the Silverstone circuit for the introduction of the brand-new W15.

Following that, Hamilton and teammate George Russell ran out while they completed on-track filming to fulfill sponsorship obligations.

Despite the race being held on a soaked and soggy Silverstone circuit, Hamilton remained unfazed, insisting he is more determined than ever to succeed.

“I’m feeling more driven and attentive than I’ve ever been. Every year you go back, you say I’m fitter than ever and all these other things,” he further remarked.

Hamilton noted that he has worked harder and focused more on winning this year more than any other just for a gracious exit. The 2024 F1 season is surprisingly giving him a kind of hunger for victory that he hasn’t had in a long time.

“I never thought that at this point in my life I would have hunger like I do right now. And to finish on the high with the team, it would be a dream. We’ve gone through a whole heap together. So to finish on a high, it would be the greatest honour to be able to help them get back to the top.”

Russell and Hamilton are headed to Bahrain for pre-season testing next week for three days. It will be the first time the W15, which has a new gearbox housing, front wing, and chassis, shares a circuit with its competitors.

His biggest anticipation ahead of the pre-season testing is learning new characteristics of the W15 as is the tradition in the pre-season.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Hamilton said that his childhood dream was to race for Ferrari but his stint with Mercedes complicated his ambition.

For nine years, Mercedes provided him with quick and strong vehicles, and the team had excellent racing. It is true that he won his seven F1 titles with the Silver Arrows, but the car fell short of his expectations in 2022 and 2023.

He claims that moving to the Italian squad is the last step before realizing his long-held goal of becoming a Ferrari racer. He still owes Mercedes a great deal for having him over the past ten years, so this wasn’t a simple choice for him to make.

“Mercedes has been a huge part of my life since I was 13 years old, so this decision has been the hardest I’ve ever had to make,” he remarked.

The British driver, who began working for Mercedes in 2013, expressed gratitude to the team for helping to realize his boyhood ambitions. Hamilton thanked all of his coworkers for their commitment and hard work.

Among them is Toto Wolff, the principal of the Mercedes team, with whom he established the most prosperous Driver-Team alliance in Formula One history.

His only motivation for moving to Ferrari is his conviction that, as he did with Mercedes from 2014 until 2020, he will once again make history.
