FC Bayern and the current manager Thomas Tuchel have had mutual consent to end their working relationship this summer. Initially, his agreement with the club was to run till 30th June 2025, but it has come a year earlier.
He succeeded Julian Nagelsmann in March 2023 and two months after his appointment, he led the team to win the Bundesliga.
Thomas Tuchel’s Personal Life
Thomas Tuchel was born on August 29, 1973, in Krumbach, West Germany and began playing football though he did not play at a professional level due to a knee injury that led him to transition to a coach.
After his career was cut short by an injury, he enrolled at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University where he studied Business Administration. He was previously married to Sissi for 13 years and they have two daughters together though they divorced.
He began as a professional player but he did not play at a professional level, his career was cut short due to injury at the age of 25 years.
The 50-year-old has been a manager of several clubs. He began as a youth coach with VfB Stuttgart where he gained a reputation for his tactical acumen for eight years.
He then moved to FC Augsburg II and at 36 years old, he had a breakthrough when he joined the Bundesliga club Mainz, becoming the youngest head coach in the Bundesliga. Despite limited resources, he was able to secure two Europa League qualifications and established the club as a tactical innovator.
Following Jurgen Klopp’s departure from Borussia Dortmund, he took over the role, securing a second-place finish in his first season. In the next season, the club lifted the DFB-Pokal. However, after two seasons, there were some disagreements and internal conflicts that led to his departure.
He then joined PSG for two years and helped them win two Ligue 1 titles, and even reached the Coupe de France final. After his tenure with PSG, he joined Chelsea for one season, which was very successful as he added the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup to their cabinet.
He took over at Bayern Munich in 2023 succeeding Julian Nagelsmann where he has continued working tirelessly. However, the club has decided to terminate his services this summer in a meeting held between him and the club’s CEO on 30th June 2024, a year earlier than his initial exit time.

His tenure at Bayern has been both positive and with some challenges. In his first season with the club, they won the Bundesliga title and even reached the Champions League quarter-finals.

Despite the success, he faced challenges adapting his style and managerial expectations. His decision to leave the club before his actual time on a mutual agreement suggests that both parties felt it was time for a change.
What is Tuchel’s next move after leaving Bayern?
Tuchel had successful moments with Chelsea and this might see him return to England, which makes him a successful candidate for open positions with clubs like Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur, could be potential fits.
