Shabana new coach Sammy Omollo meeting with the team
Shabana have appointed Sammy Omollo as new coach
They have been without a coach since sacking Sammy Okoth in November
Murang’a Seal are also without a coach
Shabana FC’s newly appointed head coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo hopes to start his tenure with a win, as the Premier League returnees take on Nzoia Sugar in Bungoma in a bottom of the table clash.
Omollo, a former Kenyan international and ex coach of Gor Mahia, Tusker FC, Posta Rangers and most recently Kenya Police FC, was appointed to take charge of the team which had been without a head coach since Sammy Okoth was fired in November.
“We play away and we will try as much as possible to get the three points. We want to push off the relegation zone and move up the standings. Things are bright so far. I have talked to the players and they are raring to go,” said Omollo after he took charge of his first training session.
He added; “The team has very passionate fans and I want to ask them to continue being behind the team and helping us remain in the league.
Shabana faced tough run

Shabana has faced a difficult spell since returning to the top flight after winning the National Super League last season, with only three wins in 17 matches.
They have picked 14 points so far and occupy the second of two automatic chop zones, one point above Nzoia who they face in Sudi on Sunday.
“Sammy Omolo brings a wealth of experience, expertise and a proven track record in the realm of football coaching. His passion for the sport and his dedication to nurturing talent align seamlessly with Shabana FC’s vision and values,” Shabana FC said in a statement.
They added; “We are confident that under his guidance our team will flourish and continue to uphold the rich legacy of Shabana FC. Omolo’s illustrious career and his strategic approach to the game are well-documented. His leadership skills and ability to inspire players to reach their full potential make him the ideal candidate to lead Shabana FC into this new chapter of our journey.”
Murang’a Seal also struggling
Murang’a Seal’s Titus Kapchanga celebrates his late goal against Sharks
Meanwhile, fellow league newcomers debutants Murang’a Seal are keen to extinguish their winless run which has extended to seven games when they take on FC Talanta at their St Sebastian Park backyard.
Since beating Tusker FC 2-1 at the same venue, Murang’a have not won a single match and have dropped down in the standings to 10th.
Stand-in coach Dennis Okoth says the team can draw inspiration from their last match against Kariobangi Sharks, where they scored late to earn a 1-1 draw on the road. Titus Kapchanga came off the bench to score a 92nd minute leveller, earning them a point.
“We had so many positives to pick from that game and I believe it will spur us moving into our next. We are playing at home and it is important for us to pick a win. I know we have played for many matches without winning but the belief from the boys is there that we can turn things around,” said Okoth.
Okoth, a former City Stars and Gor Mahia midfielder was handed the mantle on interim basis after his predecessor Gabriel Kingi was fired late last month.
Meanwhile, Talanta are also looking to bounce back to winning ways after a horrid run which has seen them lose four of their last five matches. Talanta have lost their last two games 3-0 back to back, and they have failed to score a single goal in all their last five games.
