On Sunday, Manchester United were held to a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford by Tottenham Hotspur during the Man United vs Tottenham fixture. Spurs came back from behind twice to frustrate United in front of new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
The Red Devils had taken an early lead through Rasmus Hojlund who unleashed a ferocious strike that went past goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. Richarlison, who has been in red-hot form since the start of December, equalized for the visitors from a corner kick.

Marcus Rashford then restored United’s lead before the half time whistle, but Rodrigo Bentancur wiped out the goal shortly after the restart with a blistering shot. Scott McTominay had a golden opportunity to win the game in stoppage time but he headed over.
Erik ten Hag’s side had less than 40% possession and nine shots compared to Spurs’ 16. Whereas the draw took United into seventh place, just one point above Brighton and Chelsea, it was’t enough for Spurs to overtake Arsenal and get into the top four. Nevertheless, Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou was impressed by the performance of his players at Old Trafford.

Obviously, not the greatest of starts, being a goal down, particularly here, and knowing the situation Manchester United are in, in terms of needing a result… We have had a really rough week off the field with quite a bit of illness and other things. Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag made one change from the side that lost to Nottingham Forest, with Rasmus Hojlund replacing Antony who has been having a difficult time this season. On the other hand, Postecoglou had Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven return from injury and feature in the starting XI.
With Sir Jim Ratcliffe in attendance, Manchester United were to improve after a miserable run before the Christmas holiday. They did start the game well and were in front after just three minutes of play, thanks to Rasmus Hojlund. The Dane striker, who scored his first Premier League goal on Boxing Day, rifled the ball into the roof of the net after Rashford had driven into the box and tried to pass to him.
Despite falling behind, Spurs who had scored in each of their last 32 Premier League games, did not show any sign of letting United stay in front comfortably. New signing Timo Werner and Rodrigo Bentancur were denied before Richarlison eventually nodded home from Pedro Porro’s corner.
With the momentum on their side, Ange Postecoglou’s side continued to attack and looked very dangerous in front of United’s goal. However, it was the Red Devils who took the lead towards the break when Rashford exchanged a one-two with Hojlund before releasing a low shot that went far post. It was Rashford’s first goal at Old Trafford this season.

The breathless first half came to an end with United in front but Spurs needed just a few seconds to level the scores after the restart. Werner’s pass into the box found Bentancur, who somehow beat Jonny Evans before scoring. From there, the closest either team came to scoring was in the last minutes of the game when substitute Scott failed to direct his header into the net when unmarked.
Lisandro Martinez, who has been out for months due to injury, made his return in the Man United vs Tottenham game as he replaced Jonny Evans shortly after the hour mark. Casemiro is also back back from injury but ten Hag didn’t bring him on.
