He then joined the Patrick School in New Jersey for his junior year. Due to his reclassification to the 2020 NBA draft class, Kuminga did not pursue college basketball as is the tradition. Instead, he joined the NBA G League Ignite, a program that prepares top prospects for the professional league.

The player was born on October 6 2002 in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo and has an elder brother by the name of Joel Ntambwe who played college basketball in the United States. He started playing basketball at an early age, from his brother’s influence.

His brother was already playing in the United States and at the age of fourteen, the 21-year-old left to join his elder brother, with a motive of pursuing basketball as a professional career, a move that was fueled by ambition and unwavering dedication which marked the beginning of his extraordinary journey.

On landing in Virginia, his talent blossomed, playing for his freshman and sophomore seasons and later at Patrick School for his junior year where each move challenged him with tougher competition and prepared him for the bright lights of the big stage.  The player did not play college basketball and was selected by the Golden State Warriors in the 2021 NBA draft.

At only 21 years, his basketball career is still young but it is packed with exciting moments and intriguing challenges. He currently plays for the Golden State Warriors in the NBA, as a power and small forward. While his mid-range game is promising, he needs to develop a more reliable three-point shot to unlock his offensive potential and space the floor for his teammates. His playing time with the Warriors fluctuates depending on matchups.
