Did Alexander Zverev Assault Ex-Girlfriend Olga Sharipova?

After inquiries into allegations of domestic abuse against his partner Olya Sharypova, Zverev was cleared in February 2023 by the ATP after extensive investigations.

The ATP inquiry found that Sharipova’s evidence was insufficient to back up her accusations.

She accused the world No. 6 player of abusing her physically and mentally during their relationship in 2020, something he refuted.

In its ruling, ATP stated that if new information on the accusations is available, it will review the judgment. The men’s tennis organization stated that it hired a private research company, Lake Forest Group to help in the case.

It also had in-depth interviews with Zverev and Sharypova as well as 24 other people, including players, family members, and friends.

A third-party forensic expert analyzed text messages, audio recordings, and images during the 15-month investigation in addition to data voluntarily removed from Zverev’s electronic devices.

The inquiry failed to support the ATP’s charges of abuse due to inconsistencies in statements made by interviewees Sharypova, Zverev, and others, as well as a dearth of reliable documentation and eyewitness testimony.

Speaking following ATP’s ruling, Zverev expressed his gratitude for receiving justice, saying the investigations were extremely difficult for him.

He maintained that he was always innocent, which is why he approved of the ATP looking into the allegations of domestic abuse.

Even more, Zverev was pleased that ATP gave the issue the consideration it merited.

“This decision marks a third neutral, third-party arbiter who has reviewed all relevant information and made a clear and informed decision on this matter in my favour. In addition to the ATP’s independent investigation, I have also initiated court proceedings in Germany and Russia, both of which I have won,” he posted on his Instagram page.
