Tusker FC midfielder Fabian Adikiny says he wants to score more goals and influence more matches for the 12-time Premier League champions in 2024.
Adikiny joined the brewers at the start of this season from Murang’a Seal, and though he has struggled to fit seamlessly into the starting 11, he believes he has a chance to do that at the turn of the new year.
Adikiny has been slowed down by injury which came early on in the season, but now fully fit, he believes the best of him is yet to be seen.
The midfielder scored a crucial goal as the Brewers beat Kenya Police FC 1-0 in their last match of the year.
“I really feel delighted to have scored and that was a massive goal for me. I had really been looking for it to boost my confidence and I am glad I got it. Fabian is back and the new year will be even better,” the midfielder said.
He added; “I want to keep working hard. I feel fit and strong and I know it will not be easy to get permanently into the starting team because everyone is really working hard, but I will do everything I can.”

Tusker have had a difficult start to the 2023-24 season, but their recent form has given them hope that they can battle to recapture the crown they lost to Gor Mahia by a point last season.
“The team really has what it takes. It is just that sometimes things were not working well for us because we have many new players and it takes time to gel. But now I believe the synergy is there and everyone is working towards the right direction,” Adikiny noted.
The lanky attacking midfielder is fighting for a starting role in a really competitive position, with the likes of Shaphan Oyugi, David Odoyo and Collins Otieno all jostling for the same position.
But, it is this competition that he believes can spur Tusker to the title at the end of the season.
“When there is competition in the team, no one rests because you know that of you drop your head, there is someone ready to take that position. It keeps everyone on toes and in the end you find that a team performs,” said the midfielder.
Meanwhile, the same sentiments are shared by wingback Levin Odhiambo, who believes the abundance of talent in the team is a big blessing as it keeps everyone working.
Getting used to new position

Tusker has used Odhiambo in a different position in the past few games, as he has been pushed forward to play more as a winger, though it also doubles up the team’s defensive strengths on the left.
“I have played severally as a winger before and also my playing style even when I am a defender is more attack minded. It wasn’t really hard to blend in and I am ready to play any role that the coach hands me,” said Odhiambo.
He added; “The most important thing is teamwork and getting three points. I believe we have worked so hard as a team to pull from where we were and we want to build on this new momentum to get good results.”
Tusker will open the new year with a tough task away to KCB when the league resumes on January 7th. They will then play at home against Sofapaka, before a massive showdown against current leaders Gor Mahia who are still unbeaten.
Nine points in those three matches will have a massive impact on Tusker’s title charge, and the team believes they have what it takes to rake in those points.
