Career

Miro had a passion in sports from a young age. The Bulgarian competed in rowing and powerlifting before moving to the United States aiming to become a pro wrestler. His wrestling journey started at the Knox Pro Wrestling Academy where he was trained by Rikishi, who is a member of the Anoa’i family, and Gangrel.

Miro wrestled in the independent circuit for some time before signing with WWE in September 2010. He was initially assigned to WWE’s developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) where he wrestled as Alexander Rusev.

In 2014, Miro received promotion to the main roster and soon won the United States Championship after defeating Sheamus. As a result, he became the first Bulgarian-born champion in WWE history. He held the title a total of three times before being released by WWE in April 2020.

During his time at Vince McMahon’s promotion, Miro went head to head with various superstars such as the Big Show, Xavier Woods and R-Truth. In September 2020, he made his AEW debut  and has since been a prominent figure in the promotion.

The Bulgarian-born wrestler defeated Darby Allin to win the AEW TNT Championship. He later lost the championship to Sammy Guevara.
