Dominican Dazzler Lester Quinones lights up the Warrior’s bench

Lester Quinones is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Golden State Warriors and also represents the Dominican Republic national team. His love for basketball blossomed in his hometown of Brentwood, New York where he developed a passion for the game that would fuel his future endeavours.

He attended Upper Room Christian School where his talent began to shine and earned recognition on the Long Island Basketball honor roll. His hard work earned him a scholarship to the Memphis Tigers where he became a fan favourite and helped the team get to the NCAA Tournament.

Quinones’ dream became a reality when he was drafted by the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 NBA draft. As a part of a two-way contract, he splits his time between the Warriors and their G League affiliate the Santa Cruz Warriors which allows him to develop his skills while gaining valuable playing experience.

He then joined St. Benedict’s Preparatory School which is a prestigious program in Newark, New Jersey. Quinones chose the University of Memphis as his college destination where he played for the Tigers men’s basketball team in the NCAA Tournament. Despite the demands of athletic competition, he prioritized his academics and graduated with a degree in marketing.

Beyond the classroom, he demonstrated a strong work ethic and dedication to learning.

While his professional basketball career takes centre stage, his educational background provides a foundation for future endeavours.

His mother and grandmother were instrumental figures in his upbringing, instilling in him strong values like hard work, dedication and family loyalty. He also plays for the Dominican Republic and has represented his country at different levels, showcasing his skills and contributing to their success. He first competed for the Dominican Republic on the U18 team at the 2018 FIBA Under-18 Americas Championship.

Quinones has also stepped up to the senior national team and was part of the squad that competed at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup held in Indonesia, the Philippines and Japan.
