Tusker look to bounce back after successive defeats

• Tusker have lost their last two matches
• They have lost five out of 10 games this season
• Gor Mahia face Murang’a Seal in another fixture

Tusker FC will look to bounce back to winning ways after back to back defeats in their last two matches left them four points away from the relegation zone. The 12-time league champions have lost 1-0 to Ulinzi Stars and 2-1 away to Murang’a Seal, defeats that have piled more pressure on them after a tough start to the season.

The brewers have lost five matches already this season, half of the 10 they have played, and for a side that has contested for the title winning twice and losing last season by a point, the drop in standards has been felt.

Defender Boniface Onyango however says the team is looking forward to bagging all three points when they play at home against Nairobi City Stars.

“We have picked the positives from our last two games. We have been playing well but unlucky when it comes to finishing our chances. I believe we have learnt from the small mistakes we made and we will perform better,” said Onyango.

He adds; “City Stars is a good team because they come into the match from a good result and we expect a tough game.”

Pressure is mounting on head coach Robert Matano to get his side back on track, and winning against City Stars will be a crucial result.

City Stars come in with confidence 

City Stars come into the match after edging out AFC Leopards 3-2 in their last match and will look to roll on with the same confidence against the brewers.

“We know we are going to face a tough task but we will be ready for it. We have a young squad but we are improving on the confidence slowly by slowly. We just need to be more efficient in the final third and finish our chances. That has been the biggest worry,” said coach Nicholas Muyoti.

Meanwhile, Murang’a Seal who edged out Tusker in their last match will seek to continue their giant slaying antics and possibly move top of the Premier League standings when they take on Gor Mahia at the Kasarani Stadium.

The top flight newcomers have been on a good roll, and are third in the standings with 20 points. A win against defending champions Gor, who are one point and one spot above, will potentially move them on the summit of Posta Rangers drop points.

“We know Gor Mahia is a very tough team but I have told my boys to go into the match without pressure. We will need to be at our best but I trust in them because our confidence is very high. Each of them knows what we are capable of oing,” said Gabriel Kingi, the Seal coach.

Gor look to keep unbeaten run going 

Gor will meanwhile look to ensure they keep their unbeaten run intact and victory against Seal will also potentially move them top, if Posta stumble.

“These players are growing in each game and they are learning how to be champions. We have some few injuries but overall we should be able to field a strong team,” noted coach Jonathan McKinstry.

In other matches set for Sunday, Kariobangi Sharks host Bandari, KCB play Bidco, league leaders Posta face off with AFC Leopards while Shabana tackle Nzoia Sugar in Homa Bay.
