Saidou Sow is a Guinea/French professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Ligue 1 club Strasbourg and the Guinea national team. He started his football journey at a local club  Neuilly-sur-Marne in the suburbs of Paris where he was scouted by Saint-Ettiene and joined their youth academy quickly rising to the ranks.

The young player made his debut for Saint-Etienne and became a regular starter in the team’s defence. His impressive performance caught the attention of Strasbourg and recently joined the club for a fee of $3 million on a five-year contract. 

The defender is a member of the Guinea national football team and made his debut for the team in a friendly match against Cape Verde. He was a key player of the squad that reached the quarter-finals of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations. He has won two caps for the national team since making his debut.

Sow Saidou Personal Life

Sow is a Guinean professional footballer who plays as a defender for Ligue1 club RC Strasbourg and the Guinea national team. He was born on July 4 2002 in Conakry, Guinea to parents of the country’s descent who emigrated to France in search of greener pastures.

While in Guinea, Sow attended primary school in his home country and on immigrating to France, at the age of thirteen, he joined a youth academy and also continued with his studies while pursuing football.

The young player began playing in the streets of his hometown at a young age, was identified as a talented player and was invited to join a local youth academy known as AS Saint-Etienne, quickly rose through the ranks and made his professional debut for the club, where he was spotted by Strasburg scouts and joined the club at a fee of $3 million on a five-year contract.

Sow’s wealth is primarily derived from his young profession in football. He has not been in his career for long but within the few years he has played professionally, he signed lucrative contracts with professional clubs that paid him a decent amount. His net worth in 2023  is estimated to be $3 million.

The defender began his professional career playing for Saint-Etienne where he earned between $100,000 and $200,000. He was then signed by Strasbourg on a five-year contract where he currently plays, earning between $700,000 and $1.3 million. In addition to his salary, he also earns bonuses and endorsements, not forgetting that he also earns playing for the Guinea national team.

At  21 years old, the player is doing very well as he continues developing his skills and is likely to earn more since his performance is very impressive and might be in the interest of other clubs who may give a better bid.

Born and brought up in Guinea, then moved to France when he was 13 years old to join the youth club of Neuilly-sur-Marne where his performance was recognized and was scouted by Saint-Etienne.

When he joined the youth club, he was only thirteen years old and progressed through the ranks, making his professional debut five years later and becoming a regular starter for the club. At Saint-Etienne, he made 57 appearances for the club in all competitions.

In 2023, Sow signed a five-year contract with club Strasbourg at a fee of $3 million and is so far one of the best defenders for the club.

Being a Guinean, he is eligible to play for the Guinea national team. He made his debut for the team three years ago and has been a key player for the national team. He was part of the squad that reached the quarter-finals of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations.
