Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti spoke after the match and acknowledged Rodrygo for his performance in the massive win.

“Rodrygo returned and made the difference today… We played well, we played with quality, a good attitude and we controlled the tempo well. We’re very happy because the result looks straightforward after the game, but we had to set the game on the right course and we did so from start to finish. The win today gives me a lot of confidence going into the rest of the games.” Carlo Ancelotti is quoted by Real Madrid’s official website.

How Real Madrid Beat Cadiz

Real Madrid went into the game two points behind Girona who were on top of the standings while a struggling Cadiz side were 16th on the table. A high intensity start to the game saw both sides attacking each other’s penalty areas with the aim of scoring first.

The first chance of the match fell to Real Madrid inside three minutes when a cross from Dani Carvajal hit Chris Ramos and almost caught Jeremias Ledesma by surprise. The hosts then showed their attacking prowess twice with headers from Chris Ramos and Navarro in the 11th and 13th minute respectively. However. none bore fruits.

As the home side were building further momentum, Rodrygo Goes silenced the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla by scoring a wonder goal. The 22-year-old Brazilian was sent through on the left-hand side of the box and he brilliantly beat Cadiz players Joseba Zaldua, Alex Fernandez and Ruben Alcaraz in two beautiful moves before firing a right-footed shot into the top corner. The goalkeeper was helpless as the ball went straight into the net.

Real Madrid began controlling the match afterwards and tried finding another goal but Toni Kroos’ pass to Rodrygo was cut out by Ledesma. The visitors could even have doubled their lead in the 18th minute with a dangerous cross from veteran midfielder Modric that Bellingham couldn’t quite get on the end of.

The intensity of the game dropped afterwards but Real Madrid’s goalkeeper Andriy Lunin had to make a brilliant save towards the end of the half to deny Roger Marti’s curling effort that was going in. A shot from Kroos five minutes later was cleared off the line by R. Alcaraz.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side began the second half on a high note and almost doubled their lead in the 53rd minute when Bellingham carved Cadiz open. However, Rodrygo and Joselu had a mix-up and the ball went wide. Luka Modric’s long range effort then smashed the post, and at this point, Madrid’s second goal seemed only a matter of time.

Rodrygo eventually doubled the visitor’s lead in the 64th minute with a masterful finish off a quick counter-attack. This was the Brazilian’s fifth goal in three club matches.

Maxi Gomez had an opportunity to bring Cadiz back into the game but he failed to capitalize and they were punished in the 74th minute when Bellingham found the back of the net. The English midfielder has scored 14 goals for Real Madrid, surpassing the 13 goals that Cristiano Ronaldo, Alfredo Di Stefano and Pruden Sanchez scored in their first 15 official games for the Los Blancos.
