Career
Born in Catalonia, Marc Cucurella fell in love with football at a young age. He started by playing futsal with FS Alella before joining Espanyol’s youth set-up in 2006. After going through Espanyol’s youth system for six years, he moved to FC Barcelona in 2012.
Cucurella is a graduate of La Masia and made his senior debut with the reserves on 26 November 2016, starting in the 4-0 win over L’Hospitalet. He made 17 appearances for the reserves as they received promotion to the Segunda Division via play-offs.
On 1 September, Marc Cucurella made his professional debut for FC Barcelona, starting in the 2-2 draw against Granada. He made his first-team debut the following month coming on as a substitute for Lucas Digne in a 3-0 victory over Real Murcia.

Getafe made Cucurella’s transfer permanent ahead of the 2020-21 season. In August 2021, the left-back moved to the English Premier League where he joined Brighton on a five-year deal. Cucurella was Brighton Players’ Player of the Season in his one and only season at the club.
On 5 August 2022, Chelsea signed Marc Cucurella on a six-year deal. The Blues paid a reported £60 million, which was a record fee received by Brighton.
