  • Wydad won the first leg 1-0 in Nigeria
  • They need to avoid defeat to make the semis
  • Enyimba have to win by a margin of three or more goals

Wydad Athletic head coach Adel Ramzi says he is confident his charges have what it takes as they aim to reach the semi-final of the inaugural edition of the African Football League (AFL).

The Moroccan giants lead Nigerian side Enyimba by a solitary goal from the first leg played away over the weekend, and will need only to avoid defeat at home to make the last four.

“We achieved a positive result during the first leg in Nigeria, but as I said before, we have not done anything yet, and the most important thing is focus. The second leg will differ from the first leg, especially knowing that Enyimba will not come to defend,” noted the coach.

Confidence in my players

The tactician adds; “I have very huge confidence in my players and their ability to achieve victory. The players have shown a lot of focus and sense of responsibility to get the result.”

The coach also hopes the massive crowd in Casablanca will push them to victory, reiterating they should not take the game lightly.

Meanwhile, Enyimba head coach Finisi George has assured the team will give a good account of themselves when they play Wydad in Casablanca.

Enyimba trail 1-0 from the first leg played last weekend, and they hope to score at least two goals from the duel away from home to advance to the semi-finals.

“We have had a good amount of time to prepare for the match. We have a young squad, but all the players have dreams. We are here to achieve qualification and progress to the semi-final. I am confident that we will deliver a good performance,” noted the tactician.

Players will give their all

His sentiments are shared by goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo who says the players will give their all on the pitch to progress.

“We came here to battle for victory and as players we are ready to fight. We know we are facing a tough match but we want to give our best and win,” said the keeper.

This will be the fourth meeting between Enyimba and Wydad. Their last meeting, save from last weekend’s, was way back in 2011 in the Champions League, The first leg in Nigeria ended 0-0 but Wydad won 1-0 at home.
