Former FKF Premier League champions Tusker FC will look to move second in the FKF Premier League standings when they take on winless Shabana FC at the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani.

The brewers dropped points in their last match, a 0-0 draw at home against FC talanta and are keen to get their groove back on. They are on eight points from two wins and two draws, their only defeat this season being away to Kakamega Homeboyz

Head coach Robert Matano is optimistic that his side has what it takes to emerge victorious, and has rallied his charges heading into a difficult assignment against Shabana.

“It will not be an easy match because Shabana is a good team. I have watched them and I know they are not an easy opponent. They have good players with speed and heart and it will not be easy,” Robert Matano, the Tusker FC coach said.

The team will be without three vital players; striker Eric Kapaito, defender Jimmy Mbugua and winger James Kibande, who are all ruled out with injury.

Kapaito injured against Talanta

Mbugua and Kibande also missed last weekend’s match with Talanta, while Kapaito picked up his injury in that match.

They come up against a Shabana side that has not won in their five matches of top flight return, and are seeking to get their first victory.

The Kisii-based team have only three points from three draws, and a first defeat of the season will be massive in lifting their morale.

There will be two former Tusker FC players facing their ex employer, defenders Hillary Wandera and Rodgers Aloro.

Aloro joined Shabana from Bandari FC while Wandera joined from Kakamega Homeboyz. Both were in the Tusker FC team that won their last league title in the 2020-21 season.

Meanwhile in other matches, Posta Rangers will be keen to keep their unbeaten run going when they take on Nzoia Sugar at the Kasarani Annex.

Rangers have 13 points from five matches and sit top of the standings, their only blemish this season being their season opening 0-0 draw with Posta Rangers.

Mailmen look to keep winning run

The mailmen take on Nzoia Sugar at the Kasarani Annex, looking to continue their unbeaten run and battle to keep their top spot.

Coached by the experienced John Kamau, nicknamed ‘Guardiola’ for his preferred style of play and football philosophy, Posta have not only been on a winning run, but also picking up convincing results while at it.

They have beaten Police FC 3-0, Sofapaka 3-1, while back to back 1-0 victories over Kariobangi Sharks and Murang’a Seal have shown their grit to grind results in difficult matches.

Kamau has retained a huge majority of the squad that he had last season, and this has ensured continuity. He has also injected a few fresh faces, including the experienced Jackson Macharia from Tusker, a midfielder he worked with in his youth at Thika United.
