Manchester United secured a narrow 2-1 victory over Sheffield United on Saturday evening at Bramall Lane. Diogo Dalot smashed in a stunning late goal to help the Red Devils record back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time this season.

Scott McTominay, who scored two last-gasp goals in United’s victory over Brentford two weeks ago, continued with his impressive goalscoring by netting the first for United last evening. However, he conceded a penalty five minutes after his goal which led to Oli McBurnie equalizing for the hosts.

Manchester United needed to at least win on the day club legend Sir Bobby Charlton had passed away, and Erik ten Hag was a happy man after they did in a decent way.

“Fantastic. We have to pay our big goodbye and remember Bobby Charlton because what he did was magnificent. He was outstanding on the pitch and off it. He was a big personality. We had to remember Bobby Charlton and we did it in a decent way.” Erik ten Hag said after the match, as per Sky Sports.

How Manchester United Beat Sheffield United

It was a sombre evening under the lights in Yorkshire following the passing on of Manchester United great Sir Bobby Charlton. Charlton died on Saturday morning at the age of 86 surrounded by family and his death was announced four hours before kick-off at Bramall Lane.

Manchester United players wore black armbands and captain Bruno Fernandes placed a wreath onto the pitch in memory of the fallen hero.

Once the game started, Sheffield United got off to the stronger start and Andre Onana was called into action within three minutes of play. The Cameroon international made a brilliant save but the hosts continued to dominate the game.

However, it was Erik ten Hag’s side who opened the scoring, thanks to Scott McTominay’s volley. But the midfielder’s celebrations were short-lived as his handball five minutes later gifted the hosts a penalty, which Oli McBurnie converted in brilliant fashion.

Manchester United continued to struggle but had a few decent chances before the break which they couldn’t convert. Fernandes hit a free-kick against the crossbar and Rasmus Hojlund was denied from close range by Wes Foderingham. Sofyan Amrabat also threatened, striking the woodwork from outside the box.

Diogo Dalot’s moment of magic came towards the end of the game when he rifled a powerful shot into the top corner to give United the lead.
