Career
Michael Bisping began training jiu-jitsu at the age of eight and competed as an amateur in Britain’s first ‘no holds barred’ aged 15. He abandoned martial arts training at the age of 18 but began training again one year later, this time in boxing, karate and kickboxing.
Bisping enjoyed a short and successful kickboxing career before making his professional MMA debut in April 2004 at Pride & Glory 2: Battle of the Ages. He fought his second professional fight against John Weir at UK MMA Challenge 7: Rage & Fury, winning via knockout.
Bisping was featured on the UFC’s ‘The Ultimate Fighter 3’ reality television series in 2006. He secured victory in the TUF 3 finals and was scheduled to fight Eric Schafer at The Ultimate Fighter 4 finale but withdrew because he had problems acquiring visa.

In 2007, Michael Bisping scored a TKO win over Elvis Sinosic at UFC 70 in front of home fans in Manchester. The Briton suffered his first loss at UFC 78 against fellow Ultimate Fighter winner Rashad Evans.
Following his loss to Evans, Bisping decided to drop down a weight division with the support of UFC president Dana White. He made his middleweight debut against Charles McCarthy at UFC 83, winning via TKO.
On 4 June 2016, Michael Bisping defeated Luke Rockhold at UFC 199 to become the UFC Middleweight Champion. The British fighter later lost the title and announced his retirement from MMA on 28 May 2018.
