Following the international break in October, during which numerous nations confirmed their participation at Euro 2024, club football is just a few days away.

Before they return to the Premier League, here are several players that stood out during the last week.

Bruno Fernandes

When Bruno Fernandes teams up with his national team, he seldom makes a mistake, and this past week was no different.

During Portugal’s 3-2 victory against Slovakia, the playmaker for Manchester United produced two assists, one each for Cristiano Ronaldo and Goncalo Ramos.

The 29-year-old then scored against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday and then assisted Joao Cancelo, a loanee from Barcelona, as his team defeated them 5-0.

Mykhailo Mudryk

To put it kindly Chelsea’s decision to invest £88.5 million on Mykhailo Mudryk in January has appeared to be a terrible financial choice. The winger, though, is beginning to show potential.

The 22-year-old netted his first goal for Chelsea against Fulham earlier this month, and now he has scored his first goal for his country.

When facing Malta, Mudryk sprinted down the left flank with the ball before darting inside and blasting the side netting from a distance.

It gives the player a much-needed lift and aids the team’s chances of securing automatic qualifying for the Euros.

Darwin Nunez

Darwin Nunez’s troubles with finishing at Liverpool have been well-documented, but he scored for Uruguay when they defeated Brazil for the first time in 22 years.

Early on Wednesday morning at the Estadio Centenario, the 24-year-old headed in the game’s first goal before setting up Nicolas de la Cruz to secure a historic 2-0 victory against their South American opponents.

Nunez’s start against Everton this weekend is in doubt due to reports that he had a cramp at the conclusion of the game.

Harry Wilson

In addition to keeping their chances for automatic qualifying alive, Wales was able to defeat Croatia on Sunday, which placed them in control of second place in Group D.

Harry Wilson, who netted two goals in the 2-1 victory at Cardiff City Stadium, deserves a lot of the credit.

Less than two minutes after the half, the Fulham winger scored his first goal with a beautiful lob over the goalie following a pass over the top. On the hour mark, he followed it up by glancing in Daniel James’ cross.

If they win their remaining two group games in November, they’ll be flying to Germany in the summer.

Noni Madueke

The Ukraine U21 defenders were undoubtedly terrified as Madueke charged at them before cutting inside, faking a few shots, and slamming the ball into the bottom corner. The night’s main theme was Madueke getting the ball and Madueke creating opportunity.

Because of a combination of the winger’s injuries and partying transgressions, Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino should have been especially encouraged by his link-up play with Chelsea colleague Cole Palmer.

Madueke will undoubtedly be given the chance soon. Madueke’s performances for the England U21s suggest that he’ll be more effective than Mykhaylo Mudryk, and Pochettino has proved that he’s willing to give raw offensive talent a chance with his repeated selection of Mykhaylo Mudryk.

Harvey Elliott

Elliott scored twice and provided an assist in the 9-1 hammering of Serbia, and he added another assist when leading the England U21s to a 3-2 loss against Ukraine. He played on the flank in the second game and in midfield in the first and was perhaps the greatest player on the field in both.

The kind of quality that facilitates a young player’s entry into the first team but frequently prevents them from being given a continuous spot is flexibility, which is a great benefit for Lee Carsley and Jurgen Klopp.

Elliott has appeared in all but two of Liverpool’s 11 games this season, but he has only made one Premier League start. Elliott won’t have been comforted by the influx of new midfield additions – with more anticipated.

Elliott’s performance over the international break and the obvious impact he has on his English teammates should gain him some favor with Klopp and maybe lead to Premier League starts.
