Her father served as a militant in Nigeria while her mother played softball at DePaul University. Her brother played football at the University of Wisconsin.
The player was inspired by her mother who played softball. Arike attended Our Redeemer Lutheran School in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin where she led the girls’ basketball team to the 2011 Tournament of Champions championship and was named the MVP of the tournament.
At Divine Savior Holy Angels High School in Milwaukee, she played high school basketball leading the team to four state championships.
