Career

Rui Patricio started his football career playing as a striker for the youth team of Leiria e Marrazes. He then began playing as a goalkeeper and was spotted by a Sporting CP scout at the age of 12.

Patricio went through Sporting CP’s youth set-up and made his Primeira Liga debut on 19 November 2006, in a match against Maritimo. He saved a penalty and kept a clean sheet in the match as his side secured a 1-0 victory.
