Career
Pepe Reina developed a passion for football at a young age considering he is the son of a former goalkeeper. Reina began his football journey in the youth academy of Barcelona, La Masia, in 1995. From 1999, he began playing for the Barcelona reserve side.
Reina received a call to Barcelona’s senior team for the first time in 2000, at the age of 18. He made his debut for the Catalans on 2 December, in a 3-3 draw against Celta de Vigo. He would go on to make 19 appearances for the remainder of the 2000-01 season.
In 2002, Reina signed with Villareal and would go on to win the UEFA Intertoto Cup twice before joining Premier League side Liverpool in 2005.

Reina won the Premier League Golden Glove award in his first three seasons with Liverpool. He also played massive roles as the Reds won UEFA Super Cup, Football League Cup and FA Community Shield.
Reina spent his last season as a Liverpool player on loan at Napoli. In 2014, he joined Bayern Munich and spent a season with the German club, winning the Bundesliga.
The talented goalkeeper then had spells at AC Milan, Aston Villa and Lazio before returning to Villareal in the summer of 2022. At 41, he is the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.
