Miles Plumlee was born on September 1 1988 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, U.S. to Perky and Miles Plumlee Sr. and is an elder brother to Mason and Marshall Plumlee who are also basketball players.
His father played basketball at Tennessee Tech University while his mother played volleyball at Purdue University. Miles also has a sister Madeleine, who played volleyball at the University of Notre Dame.

He attended Warsaw Community High School for his freshman, sophomore and junior seasons where he was named twice to the NCISAA Private School all-state and the Asheville Citizen-Times All-Western North Carolina first team.
The player was selected with the 26th overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft by the Indiana Pacers and went on to have a seven-year NBA career.
He was then traded to the Phoenix Suns for two seasons and after his playtime with the Suns, he was acquired by the Milwaukee Bucks in a three-team trade involving the Suns and the Philadelphia 76ers.

Plumlee re-signed with the Bucks on a four-year contract worth $52 million. Upon his resignation, he was traded along with cash considerations to the Charlotte Hornets.
He was then signed by the Atlanta Hawks and in his first season, he suffered an injury and was assigned to the Erie BayHawks of the NBA G League. He suffered another injury while in practice and recovery, he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies.
Two months later, the Grizzlies waived the player and he signed with the Zhejiang Lions who released him after appearing in seven games.
