Uganda’s Kampala City Council Authority are looking to overturn a hefty 3-1 deficit against Libyan outfit Abu Salim FC in the second leg of their CAF Confederations Cup first round duel. KCCA lost by the big margin in the first leg played in Tunisia, and are keen to make their home advantage count to progress to the group phase.
KCCA FC will need to score two unanswered goals to progress to the group stages.
KCCA FC head coach Sergio Daniel Traguil will surely need his troops firing from all cylinders if the first leg is to be overturned on Saturday 30th September 2023.
“We need to get into the game early and score an early goal and this will help us a lit. We have worked on the weak areas we notived from the first leg and the players are hungry to make amends. We know we can do it,” the tactician said.
In the event the visitors score a goal, KCCA FC will need to score four goals or score three and push the game to spot kicks and come out victorious in order to qualify to the group stages.
KCCA looking to do well in the continent
Abu Salim SC eliminated Tunisia’s Olympique Beja to make it to this stage while KCCA FC were handed a bye in the first round of the qualifiers.
Last season, KCCA did not fare well in Continental football, and the coach believes they have what it takes to make a better performance this year.
“We have a good squad, with very experienced players and I don’t see a reason why we should not do well. It is a tough task, but we are up to it.”
Meanwhile, the club’s new signing, South Sudanese international Emmanuel Loki will be looking to make his debut. The Kampala club signed Loki as they look to firmly put the team in competitive shape for the new season.
The forward joins KCCA FC from Uganda Premier League side Soltilo Bright Stars where he has been for three years since 2020. He comes in with massive experience, having featured constantly for the South Sudan national team from Under-20 to senior team level.

He hopes he can bring some positive additions to the team and wants to win more trophies with the Capital City club.

Loki becomes KCCA FC and Sergio Traguil’s ninth and final signing ahead of the 2023/24 season after Kizza Mustafa, Joel Sserunjogi, Brazilians; Joao Gabriel, Vinicius Michael, and Angolans; Bruno Adilson Mfulu, Emilson Gonzaga, Cungulo Da Silva and Etienne Katenga.
