Arsenal left-back Katie McCabe has ended speculations about her future by signing a new contract with the Gunners. The 28-year-old has extended her stay at Arsenal past next summer when her previous contract was set to expire.
Speaking to the club‘s official website after signing the new deal, McCabe described Arsenal as her home while saying the best is yet to come.
“Arsenal is home for me and I’m excited to have committed my future to this football club. I’ve grown up here as a player and a person and developed a really special bond with our supporters, which means a lot to me. Over the years, I’ve experienced some amazing moments here – but I believe that the best is yet to come and I know the aim here at Arsenal is to compete for the highest honours. Katie McCabe is quoted by Arsenal’s official website.

Arsenal have not specified the length of McCabe’s new deal. However, they are delighted that the Republic of Ireland captain is staying beyond next summer. McCabe has played a significant role for the Gunners since her arrival from Shelbourne in December 2015.
Last season, she was a standout performer for Arsenal in all competitions. She played in 38 matches as the Gunners won the Continental Cup and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League. Following her impressive performance, she was named Arsenal’s 2022-23 Player of the Season and received nominations for the Ballon d’Or.
During her time with Arsenal, McCabe has made a total of 193 appearances and scored 31 goals. She has helped the club win one Barclays FA Women’s Super League title, one Women’s FA Cup and two FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cups.
Arsenal reportedly rejected an offer from Women Super League rivals Chelsea in January for McCabe. According to Sky Sports, the Gunners were reluctant in selling McCabe despite the offer being substantial. Well, if Jonas Eidevall’s side are to challenge Chelsea from winning the WSL title this season, keeping players such as McCabe is imperative.
Speaking after McCabe had signed a new deal with Arsenal, Jonas Eidevall described the 28-year-old as one of the best players in the world.
“Katie McCabe brings us so much on and off the pitch, so we are delighted to say that she has signed a new contract here with us. She has been one of the top performers in world football over the past few years and her quality and character are integral to what we do here.” Arsenal.com quotes head coach Jonas Eidevall.
