Man Utd have released an official statement announcing that winger Antony will return to training at Carrington. Antony has not played for the Red Devils since September when the club suffered a 3-1 defeat against Arsenal.

The Brazilian winger, who is facing several accusations of physical aggression towards different women, was given a leave of absence on September 10. This was a few days after he travelled to Brazil to represent his country during the international break.

Antony will also be available for selection as the club and police continue with investigations. According to BBC Sports, sources say that the talented winger has provided evidence in support of his strong denials of the allegations against him.

“Since allegations were first made in June, Antony has co-operated with police inquiries in both Brazil and the UK, and he continues to do so. As Antony’s employer, Manchester United has decided that he will resume training at Carrington, and be available for selection, while police inquiries proceed. This will be kept under review pending further developments in the case.” Manchester United’s statement on Antony reads.

On September 4, Brazilian news outlet OUL published allegations made against Antony by his former girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin. The woman accused Antony of attacking her “with a headbutt” in a Manchester hotel room earlier this year. She was left with a cut and had to go to a doctor for treatment.

Cavallin also alleged that Antony punched her in the chest, causing damage to a silicone breast implant. As a result, she required corrective surgery.

Apart from Cavallin, two other women, Ingrid Lana and Rayssa de Freitas, have also accused Antony of assault. Lana told Brazil’s Record TV that she hit her head after Antony pushed her against a wall. The 33-year-old banker said the incidence occurred in Manchester in October 2022.

Antony, who has missed four Man Utd games, spent the past few weeks in Brazil. He returned to England earlier this week and has not been charged in Brazil or England. It is understood that he spoke to Greater Manchester Police earlier on Thursday and no restrictions were placed on him after the interview.

The 23-year-old is not expected to be at training on Friday hence will not be considered in Manchester United’s clash against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Antony is the second Manchester United player this decade who has found himself in trouble with authorities for assault allegations. Mason Greenwood, who currently plays for Getafe on loan, had been accused of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault.

“As a club, we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognize the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation, and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse.” Said United on Antony’s case on Thursday.
