Rick Macci, who formerly coached Serena and Venus Williams doesn’t mind being her coach

Emma Raducanu is the modern-day British heartbeat of tennis and Rick Macci, who formerly coached Serena and Venus Williams doesn’t mind being her coach moving forward.
Since winning the 2021 US Open, Raducanu has had a troubled life with her coaches. She has had at least four coaches so far and she says that while at it, she will hire and fire more coaches in future.
Macci says Raducanu is technically good and mentally strong, and she can rapidly regain her confidence which is somewhat gone with her being out of tour.
She had to undergo three surgeries, two on her wrists and one on her foot to correct injuries that caused a lot of pain and inhibited her performance.
Macci believes he can get along with Raducanu, and assist her in winning another Grand Slam.

The former William’s coach reached out to her and expressed his desire to coach her and he is optimistic that she will come around.
“I reached out to her agent earlier in the season. It will be interesting to see what happens there, I’ve never talked to her. I’d need to sit down with her and her parents to work out how much she still wants it,” Macci said in an interview with OLBG.
Macci says that people have a lot of varied opinions about her career which is all because of winning her first Grand Slam – the 2021 US Open – at 18 years.
The press attention since then has been tough and she needs a coach who can help her rise above it.
“I’d like to get inside her head- you’d be hoping that she wants to be the number one in the world and genuinely believe she can win slams again. She has the ability, she’s a great athlete, technically sound and has a great serve,” Macci said.
She retorted that since winning the major slam, she has been treated like a piggy bank and is constantly on the prowl for sharks.

However, Macci says that Raducanu winning the US Open wasn’t by accident. It was an indication that she is mentally strong and a skilled tennis player.
The American coach says Raducanu reminds him of Jennifer Capriati who he once coached. She disappeared and was forgotten but came back and he coached her back to world N0. 1 and three Grand Slams to her name.
He says that tennis coaching is not just about the style of play but other mental aspects that shape the game. Macci is sure he can help Raducanu regain her confidence and ace her way back to the top of the WTA chart.
Raducanu has had six coaches since her debut in WTA in 2021 when she won the US Open. However, her agent Max Eisenbud says that she is ready to hire and fire more.
Some of her most reputable coaches include Andrew Richardson, Torben Beltz, Sebastian Sachs, Nigel Sears and Dmitry Tursunov. Eisenbud while speaking on Tennis Podcast said that at her age, it is normal having different coaches after a short while. He added that it is a reality that Raducanu and her parents are alive to.
