In their first Premier League match without Harry Kane, Tottenham Hotspur drew 2-2 with Brentford on Sunday in West London.
On Saturday, it was announced that Kane would be leaving the team. The England captain will now join German champions Bayern Munich in their pursuit of silverware.
Ange Postecoglou’s team took the lead on Sunday thanks to a goal from Cristian Romero, but Brentford came back to win thanks to goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa.
Emerson Royal of Tottenham managed to tie the score late in the first period, but there were no further goals in the second 45 minutes, therefore the final score was a tie.

In the 11th minute of the game, Romero headed a superb cross from James Maddison into the goal from close range to give Tottenham the lead.
Romero was almost played on by the last Brentford defender after there was a tight call on a potential offside, leaving the Spurs players and supporters with a nervous wait.
Romero was substituted immediately after due to a possible concussion, and in the 16th minute, Mbeumo’s shot stung Spurs newcomer Guglielmo Vicario’s palms as Brentford produced their first meaningful chance.
Son Heung-min hauled Jensen to the ground inside the box in the 23rd minute, giving Brentford an opportunity for a penalty. The action initially transpired, but the referee was eventually taken over to the monitor to consult with VAR before awarding the penalty to the home team.
In place of Ivan Toney, Mbeumo moved forward and skillfully and calmly finished with the goal, sending Vicario the wrong way.
Then, in the 36th minute, Brentford turned the game around when Wissa’s deflected shot found its way into the net after Micky van de Ven had extended a leg in front of his goalie.

Spurs controlled the ball more in the final minutes of the first half, and the visiting team managed to tie the game in the fourth minute of stoppage time when Emerson buried a low shot from just beyond the penalty area.

Early in the second half, Maddison put Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken to the test, as Spurs got things going more quickly after the break.
In the 78th minute, Van de Ven seemed to foul Kevin Schade inside the area, prompting another penalty appeal from the Bees. However, a VAR review determined that the center-back had really won the ball.
Shortly after Mathias Jorgensen swung a perilous cross towards the far post, causing Vicario plenty of trouble, Schade hoisted one over the crossbar.
Tottenham increased the pressure in the closing minutes, but there proved to be not much late drama in West London, as the final score was a draw after a thrilling match.
Next Saturday, Spurs will play their next league game at home against Manchester United, while Brentford will travel to Fulham that same day.
