Career
Born in Lyon, France, Kurt Zouma began his football journey at the local club Vaulx-en-Velin in 2003. He went through the club’s youth system for six years and then secured a transfer to Saint-Etienne.
Young Zouma played as a right winger and also as a striker before switching to defence. He made his professional debut with Saint-Etienne at the age of 16 in a Coupe de la Ligue match against Bordeaux. He played the whole match as his side secured a 3-1 win.
Zouma soon became a regular starter for the French club and was part of the squad that won the Coupe de la Ligue in 2013. The France international spent some time on loan at Stoke City and Everton before returning to Chelsea and winning the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the FA Cup. He had previously won two Premier League titles and a Football League Cup with the Blues. Zouma joined West Ham in the summer of 2021.
