Career
Kevin Harvick began racing carts at the age of five. He would later win seven national titles and two Grand National championships.
Young Harvick was the winner of the 1993 late model title at Mesa Marin Raceway in his hometown. In 1995, he won the NASCAR Southwest series Rookie of the Year. He added another Rookie of the Year trophy five years later in the Xfinity Series.
Harvick had his first career Cup start in 2001 at Rockingham Speedway. He finished P14 because earlier in the week he had been selected to replace Dale Earnhardt Sr., who died in a racing crash. He had big shoes to fill but he responded well, recording his first win in just his third start.

Harvick did well to edge out Jeff Gordon in the event. Following his victory, he showed respect to Earnhardt by driving backwards on the track while raising three fingers outside the driver’s window. His second victory came in Chicago.
Harvick made 466 starts for Richard Childress and then moved to Stewart-Haas after the 2013 campaign. The legendary driver is still active and finished fifth last season after barely missing out in the Round of 8 finale.
