Kipyegon effortlessly defended her 1500m title in Budapest, Hungary on August 22 in 3:54.87. This booked her a gold medal and she says that she kept it easy all through and maintained the lead from the start to the finish. In a post-race interview, Kipyegon, the current world record holder and defending champion, said that she kept her faith and gave it her all. The Budapest gold medal is her first this year and it follows two new world records.

MONACO DIAMOND LEAGUE 2023

On July 21, the mother of one made history at the Monaco Diamond League after breaking the 1 mile race in 4:07.64. She received earned $10,000 (Sh1,445,500) cash prize. In 4:07.64 at the Monaco Diamond League’s Stade Louis II, Kipyegon smashed the one-mile world record in a heartbeat.

Before her, a few illustrious athletes also accomplished this feat. In 1999, Hicham El Guerrouj of Morocco broke the men’s mile record with a time of 3 minutes, 43.13 seconds. In addition, Svetlana Masterkova of Russia, who set the women’s mile record in 1996 by completing it in 4 minutes, 12.56 seconds, and one of the greatest middle-distance runners in history, El Guerrouj, are included on this list. However, there is more to the world record for a mile.

PARIS DIAMIOND LEAGUE 2023

She clocked a record time of 14:05.20 at the Paris Diamond League 2023 in June in her 5000m race which she shattered. This means that Faith Kipyegon net worth in 2023 bulked up with the race’s cash award of $10,000 (Sh1,445,500).

Breaking the 1500m and 5000m world records in Florence and Paris earned her so much more at home. The Kenyan government through President William Ruto awarded her a $35,842 (Sh5 million) cash reward and a further $43,000 (Sh6 million) house in Nairobi.

Kipyegon was flanked by her husband Timothy Kitum and their son when they met Ruto at the breakfast meeting.  She said after her meeting with the Kenyan president that Faith Kipyegon net worth can finally afford to purchase her father a car which she had promised him before heading out to Paris.

DOHA DIAMOND LEAGUE

Her winning streak started at the Doha Diamond League in May where she won the 1500m race in a world record time of 3:58:57. The kind of energy this victory gave her continues to trickle down three months later. Nonetheless, she bagged $10,000 (Sh1,445,500).

In a nutshell, Kipyegon she never believed she could break the world record. She recalls having a conversation with her coach about this weeks to the Florence and Paris Diamond League races but she gave it all her best. She broke previous marks in the women’s 1500m and 5000m races.

Kipyegon set the world record for the 5000-meter race on June 9 at the Paris Diamond League in 14:05:20, making history as the first female Kenyan to do so. With just 600 metres left in the race, Kipyegon outran Letesenbet Gidey of Ethiopia, who held the previous record. This is no mean feat and she says it is all a happy ending due to her hard work and focus but she didn’t get to the race with a world record in mind.
