Kane is the first English player to score in his first two Bundesliga games
Harry Kane netted a brace on his home Bundesliga debut to help Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich beat Augsburg 3-1. The England captain is having a brilliant start to life as a Bayern Munich player having scored one and assisted another goal in last weekend’s victory over Werder Bremen.
Speaking after the match, Kane said scoring two goals at Allianz Arena was a special felling and he’s looking forward to the next fixture.

“Great game today. To score two goals in front of you fans was a special feeling. Lots of improvement still to come but to start the season with two wins is a really great start, so thanks for the support as always. You know [I] appreciate every single one of you there in the stadium singing my name, so look forward to next week now, recover well and let’s keep it going.” BBC Sports quotes Harry Kane.
Having put four past Werder Bremen on their opening day, Bayern continued their winning start to the league this season. They are second on the Bundesliga standings with six points, same as Union Berlin who are leading at the moment.
Meanwhile, Augsburg are eleventh with one point in two games. They host Bochum next weekend and will be looking forward to bounce back from Sunday’s misfortune against Bayern Munich.
Bayern Munich Beat Augsburg
Bayern Munich intended to take advantage of Augsburg’s leaky defence that conceded four in their opening match of the season against Borussia Monchengladbach last weekend. However, the Bavarians had a sluggish start.
Serge Gnabry had an opportunity to open the scoring but he couldn’t take it. The visitors then came close to breaking the deadlock but Ermedin Demirovic missed a clear chance by hitting the ball wide of the target.
There are few sides in Europe that punish missed chances like Bayern Munich, and they eventually took the lead. It all started by Gnabry sliding the ball through Leroy Sane, whose shot was saved by goalkeeper Finn Dahmen. However, the ball ricocheted back off an unfortunate Felix Uduokhai and went into the net.
Having opened their account, Bayern Munich looked more dominant towards the end of the first half. The hosts were awarded a penalty by referee Sascha Stagemann after Niklas Dorsch handled the ball inside the box. The referee awarded the penalty after being called to check the monitor.
As you would expect, Harry Kane was the penalty taker and he nonchalantly dispatched from the spot to score his first Bayern Munich goal at Allianz Arena.

It was only a matter of time before the third goal arrived, and it was none other than Harry Kane. The England captain completed his brace in the 69th minute, thanks to Alphonso Davies‘ brilliant pass. Dion Beljo scored his side’s only goal of the match in the 86th minute.
